Design
• Rough sketch of what we wanted to accomplish in our device
Device Description
• Car rolls down ramp and collides with bearing• Bearing rolls down ramp and is projected into
funnel• Bearing hits clothes pin and releases string
holding up weights• Weights fall on second clothes pin and release
hammer• Hammer activates lamp or triggers next device
Calculations
Costs
• Funnel - $0.50
• Hammer - $3.50
• 2 pulleys - $1.50
• Weight - $1.50
• Toy car - $0.50
•2 clothes pins - $0.20•Ball bearing - $1.50•Lamp - $5.00•Wood - $5.00•String - $0.50
TOTAL = $19.70
Construction Issues
• Fitting everything together just right
• Stabilizing funnel
• Making sure our device was constructed so that we could be triggered by/trigger other devices
Conclusion
• Device successfully accomplished what was required of it
• Team members gained valuable teamwork and engineering experience
