December 8, 2019 - Second Sunday of Advent
Every two years our young Catholic Church from all 50 states gather to celebrate, worship, play, and grow together as one body at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC), in Indianapolis.
NCYC is a three day milestone in our young church’s journey of faith. It is an opportunity for youth to encounter Jesus Christ, experience His church in new and profound ways, be empowered to be a better disciples, and ultimately to return to their parishes reenergized and recommitted to their faith. Oh, and NCYC is also a whole LOT of fun!
Our wonderful Saint Anthony high school youth recently returned from NCYC changed for the better in more ways than they realize.
Encountered Christ The center of our faith and the center of NCYC is that youth get to encounter and serve the living God, Jesus Christ. Jesus reminds us, “Where two or more are gathered, there I am present in their midst.”
Our youth encountered Christ in incredible Eucharistic cele-brations, opportunities for the Sacrament of reconciliation, powerful prayer experiences, and moving celebrations of praise and worship.
While at NCYC, Saint Anthony youth served hungry people throughout the world by taking time to fill food packets that will be sent to needy families, a very humbling experience.
They also encountered Christ through the sharing of the personal struggles, journeys, faith, and lives of hundreds of religious, lay adults and young adult presenters. Our Saint Anthony High Schooler’s left NCYC committed to live out the message of Jesus Christ.
Our Youth Experienced the Catholic Church Our Church is big. I mean really BIG! Our youth got to experience this at NCYC when Pope Francis addressed them via a special message shown on the huge Jumbotron at
We love our Saint Anthony parishioners & families for supporting our young church, especially their pilgrimage to NCYC. God is Good! #ncyc2019
Come enjoy what our St. Anthony youth recently experienced at NCYC!
Lucas Oil Stadium. He told them how wonderful it was that the young church in the United States is so vibrant and energized to accept Jesus in their hearts.
NCYC was a chance for our youth to experience church on a new level. They were a part of over 20,000 young Catholics from across the country enjoying fellow disciples in Christ.
NCYC is an intentional community of followers of Jesus who brings with them the richness and diversity of the Catholic experience from across our nation. Different music, different traditions, different faces. One body, one community of faith, one church.
Empower Disciples The youth are disciples of Jesus Christ. As disciples, each of them are called to respond to many unique and challenging situations. At NCYC they tap into the rich experiences of over 100 presenters, religious and lay persons, offering workshops sessions on all dimensions of our faith. They were motivated by amazing national presenters sharing powerful and challenging messages of hope. They were energized by some of our country’s best Christian musicians and entertainers. They were renewed and rein-vigorated so they can be the disciples they are called to be.
While they were at NCYC, our youth took time to explore the wide array of Catholic colleges and universities. They also got to witness many of the rich traditions of Catholic religious orders who were there with us.
Returned Changed Our youth experienced a wild three days! They celebrated, laughed and had an amazing time. They have truly been challenged. Some of them stated that this NCYC experience changed their life forever. They met role models and new friends and experienced old friends in new ways. The NCYC journey in Indianapolis for our youth is over, but in many ways their faith journey is just beginning. Thank you for taking this journey with our Saint Anthony youth.
