OUR MISSION STATEMENT

SS. Peter & Paul Parish, a community of faith called by God to deepen

our relationship with Jesus Christ, serves the Lord by sharing our time,

talent and treasure. As disciples of Christ, we are called to bring Jesus

Christ to ourselves and others: our children, the sick, the poor, the fallen

away Catholics and those who need to hear God’s message of uncondi-

tional love and forgiveness. SS. Peter & Paul Parish is a beacon of light

rooted in Jesus Christ, passed on to his successor, our Holy Father the

Pope, and is guided by our local bishop to build the Kingdom of God on

Earth. It is our mission to shine the light of Jesus Christ in our world and

to spiritually enrich the individual members of the parish as well as the

larger community through word, worship, sacrament and service.

The Youth Group met this past Sunday and worked on Operation Christmas Child. They brought in Christmas gifts,

stuffed and wrapped shoeboxes with these gifts which will now be sent overseas to children of families in need. In plan-

ning the event they initially did not realize but soon discovered that there is a seven ($7) dollars per box needed for ship-

ment. The Youth Group is looking to have a Christmas Bake Sale to raise this money for the cost of sending the Christ-

mas gift shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child - more information will be provided in next week’s bulletin.

Thanksgiving Day—November 26, 2015

This Thursday, our country celebrates Thanksgiving Day.

There are many, many things that each of us can be thankful

for here in the United States and in Towanda, PA, and at Saints

Peter & Paul Parish. This week, especially on Thursday, it

would be wonderful to thank God for the blessings we have

and ask Him to help us live and use the freedom we enjoy in

real service to Him.

Happy Thanksgiving - Fr. Ed.

Grace Connection (GC) Grace Connection is a non-profit organization found-

ed by the pastors of local churches to help people in need.

The parish has supported GC both financially and with volun-

teer parishioner assistance. The parish has received word that

an increased number of local residents are having financial

difficulties with heating bills, electric bills and rent payments

due to temporary work reductions or loss of their job. They

are now turning to Grace Connection for assistance. If you

are able to assist with time or financial resources please see

Fr. Ed or call Grace Connection directly at 570-268-0431 –

hopefully we will be able to provide an informational flyer

next weekend.

A collection will be taken-up at the Thanksgiving

Day Mass which will be donated to Grace Connection. The

next GC meeting will be held on Thursday December 17,

2015 at the Towanda Lutheran Church at 11 am.

Christmas Angel Tree The parish will again participate in a Christmas gift-

giving initiative to assist families who need some help at

Christmas. The tree will be decorated with angels identifying

items the family could use to make Christmas more joyful for

their children or simply to survive during the Christmas sea-

son.

The tree will be at the entrance to the church next

weekend, the First Sunday of Advent. Items will need to be obtained and returned under the tree by Sunday,

December 13, 2015 for Christmas delivery.

Pro Life Activities – Looking Ahead Traditionally buses organized by various groups

from the surrounding area travel to the March for Life in

Washington, D.C. This coming year on Friday January 22,

2016 buses organized from Elmira, NY, Notre Dame High

School, and Bradford County Pennsylvanians for Human Life

will be departing at different times and places for the March

for Life in Washington, D.C. The parish has already been

contacted concerning SSPP parishioner participation and

parish funding support. If you have any interest in participat-

ing in any way in this year’s March for Life in Washington,

D.C., please contact Marie Siebert (570-265-3122) or Fr. Ed

(570-265-2113) ASAP.

Also please note that the Bradford County Pennsyl-

vanians for Human Life is organizing a rally, Rally for Life

in Towanda, in front of the Bradford County Court House on

Sunday January 17, 2016 at 2 pm followed by a Prayer Ser-

vice in Saints Peter and Paul Church and a reception in Grot-

to hall – church basement. If you are interested in participat-
