OUR MISSION STATEMENT

SS. Peter & Paul Parish, a community of faith called by God to deepen

our relationship with Jesus Christ, serves the Lord by sharing our time,

talent and treasure. As disciples of Christ, we are called to bring Jesus

Christ to ourselves and others: our children, the sick, the poor, the fallen

away Catholics and those who need to hear God’s message of uncondi-

tional love and forgiveness. SS. Peter & Paul Parish is a beacon of light

rooted in Jesus Christ, passed on to his successor, our Holy Father the

Pope, and is guided by our local bishop to build the Kingdom of God on

Earth. It is our mission to shine the light of Jesus Christ in our world and

to spiritually enrich the individual members of the parish as well as the

larger community through word, worship, sacrament and service.

ARISE Together in Christ

Commissioning Ceremony for Small Group Leaders

ARISE Together in Christ is essentially a spiritual process.

We believe it is the work of God, guided by the Holy Spir-

it. For this reason, there will be a brief ceremony during

all Masses this weekend for those who are serving our par-

ish community as ARISE Small Group Leaders (SGL) and

the ARISE Parish Team (APT). Please keep in your pray-

ers: (SGL) Helen Barrett, Sue Christian, Brandon Dicker-

son, Rob Grimes, Mary Ann Harris & Mary Kay Ward,

Kathy Joyce, Al Ondrey, Karyn Paulish, Bob Pyznar, Jude

Rabago & Luis Vega, Marie Seibert, and Heidi & Matt

Tavani , (APT) Mike Boyek, Kathie DeWan, Christina

Fleury and Sharon Kaminsky.

Looking Ahead

In September, Fr. Ed will be on retreat in Boston from

Monday through Friday, September 21-25, 2015. There

will be no morning Masses on those dates.

Third Banns of Marriage

Michael Mauer, Jr., and Elizabeth Borel are to be married

in October, 2015. If anyone is aware of an impediment to

this marriage, please contact Fr. Ed at the parish office 570-

265-2113.

ARISE Together in Christ

An Opportunity . . .

Gathering together to learn from their Teacher, the Apostles

also nourished each other by sharing their stories. They

supported each other, laughed and cried together, ate and

prayed together, and in the process their faith grew and

their lives were enriched. Do you feel something tugging at

your heart? Is it leading you to consider new ways of nour-

ishing your faith? Do you feel the demands of life prevent

you from connecting with others? If so, ARISE might be

what your spirit is searching for . . . take this opportunity to

learn from our Teacher, Jesus Christ. Small faith-sharing

groups will be forming the weekend of September 12th and

13th to start the week of October 4th. Visit the website

Baptism

Congratulations to the Hoff and Jurnack families (Ian and

Katie J. Hoff) upon the Baptism of their daughter Evelyn

Neulah Hoff this Sunday. May God continue to bless yur

family especially little Evelyn, in the years ahead.

Annual Appeal Rebate Check

This past week the parish received a rebate check of Seven

Hundred Seventy Dollars ($770) from the Diocese of

Scranton Annual Appeal Office for exceeding our goal

during the 2014 Annual Appeal. For those parishes ex-

ceeding their Appeal goal, a rebate check in the amount of

75% of the amount exceeding the goal is returned to the

parish – this is the third consecutive year that the parish

has exceeded our Annual Appeal goal.

Our parish goal in 2014 was Thirty-three Thousand Dollars

($33,000).

Thank you for your support to the Diocesan Annu-

al Appeal and your support to so many in our local and

diocesan community that need assistance on a temporary

or long-term basis to cope with various challenges in their

life and family. May God continue to our parish and our

Diocese.

Labor Day Weekend

Monday, September 7, is Labor Day, and Mass will be at

9 am instead of 8:30 am. Monday morning.

The Parish Office will be closed Monday for the holiday.
