Research Objective
The objective for the survey is to listen to the Doctors and to understand their Knowledge, Perception and Attitude on Sampling Practices by Pharmaceutical Industry.
Research Methodology
A structured questionnaire for the study subjects (Doctors) was designed within the scope of given objectives. Mumbai was divided into 6 zones. Within each zones, doctors were interviewed from different areas.
The zones and areas covered are as follows:

CONCLUDING REMARK
1. 31% of the doctors could not define what they mean by adequate
samples, while 32% believed that complete doses as per the doctor’s
requirement are adequate.
2. 37% of the doctors said that the samples of a product which is currently
under promotion and moving fast in the market should be given once a
month, while only 20% of the doctors feel that sampling of these
products is not required. Sampling thus is considered an essential part
of pharmaceutical companies’ promotional tool.
3. 59% of the doctors find sampling practices important, while 29% of the
doctor’s said that sampling is not important.
4. According to the doctors the real purpose of sampling is to create
awareness about the product (24%), for testing of drugs (22%) and as
brand reminders (20%)
5. 21% of the doctors said that antibiotics should be sampled most
regularly, while 13% said that Nutraceuticals and 12% said commonly
used medicines should be sampled more frequently.
6. 36% of the doctor’s could not specify which company does the best
sampling, while many doctors who specified the company, could not
relate the products name with the company’s but 40% answered that
giving good and effective samples regularly is the best sampling
technique.
