The work of Sky Blues in the Community is of
enormous importance to the football club both
in terms of our responsibility to the community,
but also to help nurture and develop young players in the local area.
The World Cup camps are a great way for children to be fit and active
during school holidays, and the experienced Sky Blues coaches are
always striving to ensure everyone is enjoying themselves during their
time with us.
The Player Development Centre scheme also helps to identify talented
local players, as Sky Blues in the Community see thousands of young
players every year through schools and community-based work.
Coventry City Football Club has a strong track record bringing local young
players through the Academy to play for the first team, and all of these
initiatives will help us continue that tradition long into the future.

Player Development Centres
The Player Development Centre (PDC) initiative started in September
2010 and as of January 2013 has over 450 boys aged 6-16 years old
taking part each week at seven sites across Coventry and Warwickshire.
The PDC’s offer four standard levels; development, advanced, shadow
elite and elite. The PDCs present a talent and development pathway from
grassroots football, such as our school or holiday courses.
Our FA Level 3 qualified coaches provide a technical and tactical coaching
curriculum designed in conjunction with the Coventry City Academy,
helping players of all abilities develop and achieve their full potential
in a professional environment.
If you are interested in joining
our PDCs, you can arrange
for a free trial session by
contacting 024 7678 6521.
Girls and Disability Pathway
We work in partnership with Coventry City Girls FC, Coventry City Ladies
and Birmingham County FA to provide a talent pathway for girls aged 8-15,
through a Birmingham County Development Centre and weekly coaching
programme with Coventry City Girls FC.
We also work alongside Coventry City Council and
Birmingham County FA to promote disability football,
providing recreational and competitive playing
opportunities during term-time, holidays and at
weekends for children and adults.
Sky Blues Player PathwayOur aim is to provide opportunities to take part in football and sport for boys and girls of all abilities. It is important to us that we offer a high quality and positive experience for everyone who comes to our activities.
At the same time we want to help people fulfil their potential, whatever level that may be; so it is important that we have a system in place for boys, girls and those with a disability to help identify and nurture talented players to help them achieve their goals. Our player pathway structures our coaching so players train with others of a similar age and ability level.
