Carmel-by-the-Sea: Person reported thatupon returning to his vacation home onCasanova Street, he found a woman with ababy who wasn’t supposed to be there. Thewoman admitted to trespassing and wasallowed to stay overnight due to inclementweather and nighttime hours. Person then drovethe woman to S.F. to a friend’s house. Personwas asked what action he wanted the depart-ment to take but said he only wanted to docu-ment the incident in case it happened again butdid not wish officer contact or charges broughtagainst the woman. Person was advised thatother county resources were available to thewoman and her child. Child was reported ashealthy and cared for.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine dispatched to Carmelo andSeventh for a power line down. Removed hazard: Loose cablewire placed to side of street.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance dispatchedto Mission and Ocean for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, CFD per-sonnel saw light smoke emitting from the engine compartmentand wheel wells. CFD personnel in full PPE initially utilized aportable extinguisher, while other personnel advanced a hose-line. Fire was controlled. Investigation showed some vegetativedebris from the roadway had made its way into the lower wheelwell area on the driver’s front side. Some engine compartmentinsulation and plastic covering seemed to be the only materialthat ignited. Estimated loss to vehicle was unable to be deter-mined. Owner advised to have vehicle towed to mechanic forfull assessment of any damage to the vehicles’ systems.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15
Carmel-by-the-Sea: Investigated a matter of possible grandtheft on Mission Street ultimately deemed civil by the districtattorney’s office. The matter concerned an ongoing dispute
between several investor/participants in a limited liability corpo-ration.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: CFD was assisted in gaining entry intoa Casanova Street residence after it was reported that some typeof alarm was activated and could be heard from outside. CFDrequested assistance to determine if a medical or hazardousemergency existed inside the residence with the possibility thatthe homeowner may be unable to respond to the door. Entrymade into the residence, which was found to be unoccupied. Asmoke detector had been activated due to malfunction in thegarage of the residence. A cellular contact number for the resi-dent was located, and a message was left for the homeowner inregard to the actions taken by public safety.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: CPD units conducted a welfare checkon a San Carlos Street resident after a coworker expressed con-cern that the resident may be suicidal. The resident was contact-ed and found to be under a great deal of stress. The residentopted to a voluntary committal to CHOMP for evaluation.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine dispatched to a business onOcean between Dolores and Lincoln for a heat-detector activa-tion in zone 5, the bakery kitchen. Occupants contacted alarmcompany for a service technician.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine dispatched to the CarmelPlaza parking garage for an alarm system activation due to over-heated elevator control equipment. Elevator technician on scenefor servicing; alarm system reset by Plaza maintenance staff.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance dispatched
due to a power outage. Crews lowered the elevator manually andremoved the two occupants.

Carmel area: Subject was arrested on Rio Road for posses-sion of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and probationviolations.
Pebble Beach: Subject reported the burglary of a house thathe is working at on 17 Mile Drive.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14
Carmel-by-the-Sea: Responded to an alarm activation atMission and Sixth. Upon arrival, officer found a 4-by-6-footwindow broken. The business was secured, and no forced entrywas noted. It appeared an unknown suspect threw a rock throughthe window.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A 21-year-old malesuspect was stopped on Santa Rita and cited fordriving on a suspended license.
Carmel-by-the-Sea: A 43-year-old femalesubject was found lying in a drainage ditch atSanta Rita and Second Avenue at 1619 hours.CRFA and CFD were dispatched to the scene,as the female had suffered minor abrasions tothe knee and legs, but she refused medicaltreatment or transport to CHOMP. The subjectdisplayed the objective signs of intoxicationand was unable to care for herself. The subjectwas arrested and booked into county jail forpublic intoxication.

The17-year-old passenger and the driver were citedand released to a parent/sober driver.
