JMrs. ¥.. C. Barrows and Mi s. F. JR. Salis­bury entertained 100 women at cards this afternoon' a t the home of Mrs. Salisbury on Third avenue SE. In honor of the day flags were used in the decorations and the hall was hung with red, white and blue. Tulips, roses and carnations, were ar­ranged through the parlors. Six hand euchre was played. Saturday afternoon Mrs. Salisbury and Mrs. Barrows will give a second -card party and the women who will assist them both days are Mmes. John Wilcox, Charles Bastbn. are preparing to present "The Wife," an emotional drama, the proceeds to be devoted to endowing a child's bed in St. Mary's hospital. Rehearsals are al­ready in progress.

The cast is headed by Mrs. Charles

Mrs. Joseph Thomas Thurman of Ken­wood gave a, prettily appointed tea this afternoon. About sixty women were en­tertained from 3 until 5 o'clock. " The decorations throughout were in red and green and carnations were used with palms and ferns with charming effect. In the dining-room an enormous bunch of the spicy blossoms was in the.cenfer of the table which was lighted with red ta­pers. Candles also ;gleamed brightly, in the tangle of. green on the mantel. The assisting women were Mmes. H.'"C. Delano of St. Paul, Miss Kittie Sullivan of Mer-riam Park; Mmes. E. H. Heath, F . G. Brown, H. B. Wetherby, A. W. Hoppock, Luella B. Ames and a group of young girls were in the dining-room. This evening the assisting women will be entertained a t a buffet s u p p e r a n d l a t e r t h e r e will b e a c a r d p a r t y of t w e n t y - f o u r g u e s t s ,
