Monitoring of short interruptions

An interruption occurs when the supply voltage or

load current decreases to less than 0.1 pu for a period of time not exceeding 1 min.

Interruptions can be the result :scheduled, the customers are announced before doing any programmed actions into the distribution networkaccidentals, caused by the permanents or temporary faults, generally produced by external events, equipments faults etc. power system faultsequipment failures, control system malfunctions Delayed reclosing of the protective device may cause a momentary or temporary interruption.

Voltage variationsOnly duration is measured since the voltage magnitude isalways less than 10% of nominalThe duration is determined by utility protective devices and the particular event that is causing the fault. The duration of the interruption will depend on the reclosing capability of the protective device.

Power Quality Monitoring

Monitoring objectives

1. Nature of the problems (data loss, nuisance trips, component failures, control system malfunctions, etc.)2. Characteristics of the sensitive equipment experiencing problems (equipment design information or at least application guide information)3. The times at which problems occur4. Coincident problems or known operations (e.g., capacitor switching)that occur at the same time5.
