• The field has runway 05/23 with downwind always on the south-east side of it.

requires special attention to the safety directives.
We are located in Västerås, which is
approximately 100 km west of Stockholm

Summer evenings in Sweden are looooong…
Weather conditions
• The weather in our region can show its absolute best sides during spring and early summer. Not unusual then with cloud bases above 2000 m with climb of >4 m/s.
• In the late summer the weather is generally more reliable but more moderate due to high moisture.
• The conditions allow gliding from beginning of April to end of September.
• West-winds with cold air masses dominate the weather.• The visibility in the clear air is known to be very good in
the north countries.
Cross-country
Cross-country• Västerås gliding club has direct access to one of the best
areas in Sweden for cross-country performances.• Affected airspaces are well fitted with sectors with almost
unlimited access (Borlänge, Västerås)• Good fields for landing out close to Västerås and at
certain known locations in the used area.• The landscape is quite flat. Flying relies on thermals.• Sweden uses 123.50 MHz for gliders• FAI-triangles easy to define in the area.
