Big Sir Larry CoffmanIn order to get the year started off right, we need to have our incoming officers and directors at the 10am business meeting on January 23rd. Before we can conduct any business we have to swear in the new officers for 2017. You know who you are, so please make it a point to attend. This is the start of our 26th year of SIR. Lets make it
a great year. If you are interested in serving as a chairman or asst. chairman on any of our committies please let me know? Also we still are in need of a couple of members to step up and be an activities chair and also a public relations/recruiter.
1.
Little Sir John Gerard Happy New Year and welcome to the “Winter Wonderland” After a few years of relatively minor winters, Mother Nature is making up for lost time. Perhaps the lake will finally fill up. Due to the
recent weather, the Winter Golf activities headed up by Mike Davis have been put on hold.
With the new year comes the opportunity for shared fellowship with your brother SIR’s. Whether it be through Golf, Bowling, monthly meetings or our schedule special events, July 4th and Christmas parties. In the recent mail home newsletter, Big Sir Larry Coffman included a list of potential activities in which the membership could participate. These ranged from attending a baseball game to going out for a beer with your fellow SIR’s. Think about it, you might like it. Our guest speaker for January will be Diane Weidinger and the topic of discussion will be the Bread and Broth Program, here in South Lake Tahoe.
2.November 29, 2016 SIR Board of Directors Meeting. The scheduled meeting of SIR Branch 160 for November was held at Tep’s Villa Roma restaurant. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM.
Big Sir: It was noted we had quorum of officers present. Van Marshall noted that the October meeting did not have a quorum present and thus no minutes were taken. A request for approval of the September minutes was made and carried unanimously. Copies of the November meeting agenda were handed out which after review was approved unanimously. Van stated that we needed to update the email records of our members and he would make a request at today’s luncheon.
Little Sir: Larry Coffman stated that he attended a meeting with the state SIRS in Placerville. At the meeting State provided a hand out titled “SIR Schedule of Branch Operations 2017”. A key topic at the meeting was attracting new membership. Larry noted his wife had the Xmas table center pieces ready to go and requested approval to buy a special cake to mark our 25th anniversary A motion was made and approved to do so.
Officer Reports:
Treasurer’s Report: John Lilygren reported we have a current balance of $1707.92 in the treasury account. John requested approval to pay for the October luncheon and the cost of mailing the October newsletter. A motion was made and carried unanimously. It was noted that reservations and payment for our Xmas luncheon needed to be made by December 5th. Van Marshall agreed to ask the callers to remind the membership of the deadline.
Committee Reports:
Activities: There currently is no Activities Chairperson.
Membership: George Ramirez reported we had 102 active members and that Bob Baker and Lyle Evans had both resigned. It was reported that the Tahoe Tribune had run an article promoting membership in branch 160.
Attendance: Dave Tiongco volunteered to take the chair.
Sunshine: No report.
Golf: Mike Davis our manager of winter golf reported that after conducting a survey that the five-dollar prize fund would remain intact. Mike noted he was looking at days other than Mondays to take advantage of lower golf fees that were being offered by various courses.
Bowling: No report
Rooster Sales: Dave Tiongco reported that he had both hats and shirts ready for sale.
Website: Mike Davis noted that the website needs some updating.
Old Business: A discussion took place on how well we raised funds from the attendance of the Xmas luncheon restocking the treasury. It was suggested that members not attending be asked to donate the cost of the luncheon to the treasury to help build up our funds. Van Marshall noted he would bring this up with the membership at today’s lunch.
3.New Business: It was noted that we needed some new committee chairpersons such as photographer and public relation and that we needed to encourage our membership to step in and help and actively participate. Van Marshall agreed to taking on the task of recruiting starting with the members at today’s lunch.
Adjourn: The meeting adjourned at 10:52AM
