SAAPHYRIback or whatever. Next thing I know; she hitme with the flowers. (laughs) It was like,"Okay, this is crazy." I forget we're on TVand we get into it. After the fact of us get-ting into it it was chaotic, s6 I knew I wasgoing to leave. And they were, like, takingher side or whatever.

Jamie: Why did they take her side? Didn'tthey film her hitting you with the flowers?Saaphyri: Yeah, they filmed it. It's on theInternet: you can see it. But at the 'sametime, I guess it was the fact that it lookedmore like I was the aggressor becausethey didn't roll the footage back at thattime, which is partially why I was able tocome back later and do "Charm Schoo!."And I think, too, if my state of mind. would've been corrected, you know, if Iwouldn't have had those anger issues Iprobably V;ouldn't have hit her for herthrowing flowers.

Jamie: Did she stay on the show?Saaphyri: She stayed on there that day,and she went home early.

Jamie: Did the film people break you upor did they just let you go on and fight?Saaphyri: No, they broke us up.

Jamie: What did Flav say?Saaphyri: Flav? It was so long ago: Heasked what happened and I explained tohim what had happened. After that hetalked to her and she explained to' himwhat had happened. Afterward he madea decision and said I had to leavebecause, you know, I was a little too wild.So I ended up leaving.

Jamie: How did you feel?Saaphyri: I felt crazy. Dumb. I didn't feelgood. I was upset. I thought basically I hadruined any opportunities to do anythingbecause I let this anger override me. Ahdonce that happened, that's why I wentand took anger management classes, because I knew it had stemmed fromother things that was going on in my life.

Jamie: You went into anger managementclass on your own?Saaphyri: Uh-huh, on my own.

Jamie: That's wonderfu!. Now what otherthings are going on with you? This wasn'tduring the time that that thing happenedwith your uncle?Saaphyri: Exactly. I was scared. I was think-'ing when that happened with the girl, Iwas like, "Oh my god, they're gonna callthe police and I ain't going to see daylightor nothing." I was really thinking like that. When they said I hit her hard, I was tryingnot to hit her hard because I definitely did-n't want the police to show up.

Jamie: What was it like behind bars? Imean, how did they get you?Saaphyri: After we did the "Flavor of Love,"

60 S2S I NOVEMBER 2010

that was in the beginning of 2006, right? Sobecause of what happened with that girl, the producers came up with "CharmSchool." They said we needed etiquettebecause that fighting stuff, that's not lady-like. it's not classy and it's not cute.

I end up doing "Charm School" and Iwon. right? Once I won at "Charm School,"then I ended up auditioning girls for "Flavorof Love 111,"where I traveled all around thecountry. to go find Flav a new love after hislove of the second season didn't work out.

Jamie: The second season, who was that?Saaphyri: That was Deelishis.

Jamie: You were traveling around, helpinghim find somebody?Saaphyri: Yeah, I traveled to Chicago,Detroit and several states. They had audi-tions all around the U.S:

Jamie: What was your purpose then?Saaphyri: My purpose was to host plus talkto the girls and really see what they were

" I mean for allthe girls that's think-ing about doingsomething, pleasedon't do it. Because ifyou are like me andyou like to look cuteand smell good, youdon't want to be [injail]. You're notsmelling good andyou're not lookingcute. "

thinking.

Jamie: How.did you win "Charm School"?Why did MoNque choose you?Saaphyri: Well, we had to do all these dif-ferent kinds of challenges and stuff, andbasically it wasta see who was the mostimproved throughout the season. So I wasthe most improved and that's how I won.So a lot of people too, (sympathized) withmy story of being homeless at the time. Itwasn't like I was sleeping in a box. When Iwas talking about' being homeless 'I wastalking about my uncles had taken myhouse .... So even though we fought wedidn't win.

Jamie: So who won?Saaphyri: At the end of the day, I still feel'that I won. Even though I didn't win themoney.

Jamie: Who got the money?Saaphyri: My uncle.

Jamie: How could thct happen?Saaphyri: Jamie, for the life of roe I don'tknow. It was so many crooked things thatwent on till all I can say is that must be theway God wanted it because there's noway logically that his children shouldn'thave had everything. But we don't.

Jamie: Well, wait a minute: Why do youthink you won even though you didn't getthe money?Saaphyri: Because in my heart I know thatthere's something greater and I needed tolet that go because it wasn't for me. Anytime you fight that hard and they still takeaway, that's not for you. I should have let itgo but I didn't. I wanted to hold on whenall the time, God was saying, "Let go, let.go, let go."

Jamie: So did you let go when you went tothe anger management dass?Saaphyri: No. What anger managementtaught me was to control my anger. It did-n't get rid of it.

Jamie: Now, you were homeless in thesense that you had to stay with friends?Saaphyri: Exactly.

Jamie: And where was your brother stay-ing?Saaphyri: He was in college. Actually, hewas in med schoo!.

Jamie: Oh, okay, he had a place to stay.So you're traveling all around and inter-viewing these girls, and the police haven'tcome up? Are they looking for you now?Saaphyri: You know what? I don't know ifthey were looking for me, but I was rightthere where they could've found me.Because what happened after I did the"Flavor of Love 3" scenario was that theycalled me back to do "I Love Money 2."Now that's when it became a little bitspooky because we had to go to Mexico. So that means I needed my passport andwith all these terrorists and stuff, they checkthe passports. 'They run it to see if you haveany warrants or anything like that. So theyhad me out the country and I went to'Mexico to go do "I Love Money 2," whichwas in the latter part of October 2008,right?

Jamie: Mm-hmm.Saaphyri: When it was time to come back,I come through the airport, I get to theUnited States, I'm trying to come back andthey're like, "Ma'am, could you wait righthere for a second?" That's when it daWnedon me, "Okay, now I know that it's over. They're going to take me away and that'sgoing to be the end of it." Which it was.And the ironic part, Jamie, is November22nd-no, 23rd, of 2008; it was exactly threeyears to the day almost from when I was
