The scenario…

together in a boat.
Each of them had a bag packed with everything they needed to continue their normal job/life in a
new country.
L.Hermitage 2015
The passengers…
The captain
A doctor
An 8 year old girl
A comedian
A counsellor
An inventor
A teacher
L.Hermitage 2015
Task 1 – What’s in the bag?
Each of the passengers had a bag with them.
The passengers had packed things which would help them to carry on their normal job in another country.
For each passenger, decide on two useful things they would have in their bag.

Argghhhhhhhhh!
Oh no!
There is something wrong with the boat. The boat will not drive any further.
Everyone is stuck in the middle of the sea, and cannot see any land.
The captain uses the radio to call for help.
L.Hermitage 2015
When can you get here?
On the radio…
SOS! We need help! Can somebody rescue us?
I can rescue you – but I only have a small boat. I can pick up one person
per week. The rest of you will have to wait…
I can rescue the first person tomorrow. You need to decide who
it will be.
L.Hermitage 2015
Task 2 – Who should be rescued?
It will take 7 weeks to rescue everyone.
The passengers will have to wait their turn, and help each other survive.
Look at the list of passengers.

person per week But there are six of us
left…Then the three people left will be
left to die…I’m soo sorry…

There are six people left on the boat.
3 of them will be rescued, but 3 of them will be left to die.
They still need to help each other survive over the next few weeks.
