RationaleMorleyNewlandsAcademyrecognisesthatallpupilsregardlessoftheirbackgroundshouldhaveequalaccesstoacurriculumwhichwillenablethemtoreachtheirpotential.ThesportsfundingpremiumisaGovernmentinitiativethattargetsextramoneytoallpupilsandallschools.TheGovernmentarenotdictatinghowschoolsshouldspendthismoney,butareclearthatschoolswillneedtoemploythestrategiesthattheyknowwillsupportthesepupilstoincreasetheiractiveparticipationinsports.SchoolsmustspendtheadditionalfundingonimprovingtheirprovisionofPEandsport,buttheywillhavethefreedomtochoosehowtheydothis.Possibleusesforthefundingmightinclude:• HiringspecialistPEteachersorqualifiedsportscoachestoworkwithprimaryteacherswhenteachingPE• PayingforprofessionaldevelopmentopportunitiesforteachersinPEandsport• ProvidingcovertoreleaseprimaryteachersforprofessionaldevelopmentinPEandsport• Runningsportcompetitions,orincreasingpupils’participationintheSchoolGames• BuyingqualityassuredprofessionaldevelopmentmodulesormaterialsforPEandsport• Providingplacesforpupilsonafterschoolsportsclubsandholidayclubs• PoolingtheadditionalfundingwiththatofotherlocalschoolsVisionWebelieveinaholisticapproachtothedevelopmentofsportandphysicalactivityforallandencouragecollaborationandpartnershipworkingtomakethebestuseofresourcesandenhancePEandsportprovisioninordertoraiseparticipationandachievementforallpupils.WewantallchildrentoenjoyPEandaccesssportsandactivitieswhichtheywouldnotusuallyhavetheopportunitiestotakepartin.Wewouldliketodevelopthecompetitiveprovisionacrossschoolanddevelopsportingspirit.Wehopetoincreaseuptakeinphysicalactivityforallgroupsofchildrenandestablishlinkswiththelocalcommunitytoincreasethenumberofchildrentakingpartinphysicalactivityoutsideofthecurriculum.Wewouldaimtoeducatechildrenabouthealthychoicesandpromotepossibilitiestomaintainactivehealthylifestyles.Finally,throughsportwewouldhopetoimprovechildren’sfocus,positiveenergy,perseveranceandteamworkingskillstoenhanceoutcomesinallaspectsofthecurriculum,includingreading,writingandmaths.TheSportsPremiumwillbespentsothat:•Allchildrenbenefitregardlessofsportingability•Childrenaregiventheopportunitytocompeteincompetitionwithotherschools•Someactivitiesmaybesubsidisedsothatpupilsdonotmissoutduetofinancialconstraintse.g.swimmingAllocation
