Catholic Strong Update
I take this opportunity to thank our parishioners for your support of the Parish and Diocesan Catholic Strong Campaign. Your generosity and love of the Parish and of the Church is inspiring. Thus far, approximately 236 families have made pledges and contributions to the Catholic Strong Campaign, totaling $561,119. 70% of those funds will come back to the parish. Thank you so very much! As you know, many of our registered parishioners do not attend weekly Mass and were not present for my presentations, so a mailing was sent to them to allow them an opportunity to be part of the campaign and to contribute and support the parish. If you have not made a pledge there is still time. I also want to thank those who could not contribute and who promised to pray for our parish. As I frequently stated, I understand the financial strains families face and appreciate all your goodness to the parish and especially your important prayers. Other parishioners spoke to me and chose not to be part of Catholic Strong Campaign, but instead made an increase in their weekly offering to support the parish. I understand your decision and thank you for your continued support. A question some parishioners have asked is: “when will the parish see the funds?” The diocese will release funds to the parish savings account for pledges received, two times a year, in May and November. I expect our first disbursement of funds to be in November. Thank you again for your generosity and
all the love you show to the Lord and His Church.
God Bless you and your family, Father Vince
Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, Padre Vicente

We thank our Hospitality Ministry and the many volunteers who made this event a success.
We hope to see more in the years to come.
Thank you for your heartfelt reception of the new hymnals, Glory and Praise 3rd Edition, from Oregon Catholic Press. I encourage you to remember the beautiful and inspiring words of St. Augustine, “those who sing pray twice!” We are blessed to have these hymnals to help us pray and worship our Creator with the psalms and sung prayer of the Church, so join us in taking advantage of a great opportunity we have in our parish community. The words of His Holiness Pope Paul VI, in his Sacrosanctum Consilium (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, are very well instilled in us, “ Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy. Such participation by the Christian people as "a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a redeemed people (1 Pet. 2:9; cf. 2:4-5), is their right and duty by reason of their baptism.”
Blessings & Peace, Maria Nieva Director of Liturgy and Music
Stewards Love One Another
“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another." (John 13:34)
It is easy to love someone when they love you back. But it takes Stewardship to have the strength and courage to love someone
when we feel unappreciated, used or feel our opinion doesn’t matter. It takes courage to “love my neighbor” when he may be
someone I don’t like, someone I don’t know or someone that doesn’t look like me.
The Parish Gospel Challenge / El Desafío del Evangelio Parroquial
The Acts of the Apostles Reflection Questions for Week 2; Acts of the Apostles,
Chapters 8-14 Chapter 8: The Apostle Phillip preached in Samaria, a place where he knew he was not welcome. How can the Church, or our parish, go out to preach and share the faith today in places where our Catholic Christian faith may not be welcome? The story of the conversion of the Ethiopian is one of the great conversion stories in the New Testament. Is there a person in your life that you can teach or talk to and invite to Church? Chapter 9: This chapter describes the conversion of St. Paul. When Jesus says: “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me” do you realize that the presence of Christ is in all of us? From the first days of his conversion, Paul faced suffering and persecution, but was steadfast in his faith. What does that say about the life of Christian? Chapter 10: The meeting of Peter and Cornelius in this chapter, prompted by God, is an important event in the Book of Acts and in the life of the Church, because Gentiles are invited into the Christian Faith. The Lord wants to tear down barriers that divide people. What walls or barriers divide people in the church or in our parish today? How can this change? Chapter 11: Here, we learn that it was in the ancient city of Antioch that followers of Christ were first called “Christians.” Are you proud and honored to call yourself a Catholic, a Christian, a disciple of Jesus? Or, does public, peer, or political pressure have you back off and hide this fact about yourself? Please pray a decade of the Rosary for persecuted Christians. Chapter 12: James is killed by Herod in this chapter. We know that followers of Christ are still being killed today because of their Christian Faith. Pray 3 Hail Marys for victims of persecution. Peter responded to the Angels lead and was freed from prison. Where is the Lord leading you in your faith journey? Chapter 13: Barnabas and Paul were commissioned and sent forth to evangelize for Christ. Where is the Holy Spirit calling you to share your faith in Jesus? Paul confronted many challenges in his ministry, what are the challenges we face as we invite others back to church? Chapter 14: What characteristics of the Apostles’ ministry inspires you? What lessons can we, as a parish and as individuals, learn from Paul and Barnabas?
