mission...

01:11:59:02 CARTER (CONT’D O/S): the next minute, you were lying flat on your back.

01:12:02:06 CARTER (CONT’D): Could this have anything to do with his inability to kelnoreem

earlier?

01:12:05:09 FRAISER: Well, kelnoreem meditation is like sleep in the sense that it's necessary

in order for a Jaffa to rejuvenate his body, but not being able to reach a

state of kelnoreem on just one occasion wouldn't cause you to faint like

that, would it?

01:34:03:08 TEAL'C: Probationary fireman. It's the same as calling someone a rookie.

01:34:48:02 TEAL'C: A Jaffa. I carry this thing around in my gut. It's called a symbiote. It helps

keep me alive.

01:34:55:10 DANIEL: Something like a kidney? Something you might be hesitant to give up?

01:34:59:20 DANIEL (CONT’D): Let me ask you this.

01:35:02:03 DANIEL (CONT’D): Does Brae fit anywhere into your dream?

01:35:05:20 TEAL'C: Which one? Hell, I don't even know what's real anymore.

01:35:09:09 DANIEL: Well, you're not alone in that. I mean, philosophers have been trying to

figure out the answer to that question for a long time. So let me just get

this straight.


01:35:19:04 DANIEL (CONT’D): When you're there, this is the dream, and when you're here,

that's the dream.

01:35:24:23 TEAL'C: They're both so real.

01:35:26:11 DANIEL: In both you're having nightmares?

01:35:28:03 TEAL'C: Hell, I'm not even supposed to dream in the other one.

01:35:30:02 DANIEL: Because you're Jaffa?

leading is the real one, so that you can stay there or here or wherever it

is you're supposed to be once and for all...

haven't even considered. Maybe neither one is real.

01:36:06:13 DANIEL: Think about it.


01:36:08:23 DANIEL (CONT’D): If you can't distinguish between them...

01:36:12:15 DANIEL (CONT’D): if the one seems equally as real as the other...

01:37:14:04 FRAISER (CONT’D): He's alive, thanks to you, but I need to know how long?

01:37:16:06 TEAL'C: You must save Bra'tac.

01:37:17:28 FRAISER (O/S): We'll do our best, okay?

01:37:18:15 FRAISER (CONT’D): Let's take them both directly to OR one. Let's move.

01:37:23:15 FRAISER (CONT’D O/S): Easy.

01:37:32:00 HAMMOND: What happened, Colonel?

01:37:33:15 O'NEILL: It was a setup from the get-go, sir.

01:37:36:13 HAMMOND: The meeting of the rebel leaders?

01:37:37:29 O'NEILL: There was no meeting. It was an ambush.

01:37:41:12 CARTER: We found over a hundred rebel Jaffa dead. Every single one of them

had had their symbiotes removed except one.

01:37:46:25 O'NEILL: Bra'tac.


01:37:48:00 JONAS: He and Teal'c were the only warriors left alive.

01:37:49:20 HAMMOND: Teal'c left for this meeting over three days ago. How did he manage

to survive that long without his symbiote?

01:37:54:11 CARTER: Sir, it's possible that Teal'c survived the ambush and then used his own

symbiote to keep both he and Bra'tac alive until we got there.

01:38:00:24 JONAS: He knew we'd show up...

01:38:01:20 JONAS (CONT’D O/S): as soon as he was late.

01:38:03:05 HAMMOND: Well, how long can two Jaffa survive with only one symbiote

between them?

01:38:06:03 CARTER: We have no idea, sir. Up until a couple of hours ago, we didn't even

think it was possible.

01:38:10:14 HAMMOND: Report to the briefing room in one hour.

01:38:13:11 O'NEILL: Yes, sir.

01:38:45:18 FRAISER: We've managed to stabilize them by using the same method Teal'c

must have used to keep them both alive, otherwise he would have been

dead when they found him.

01:38:52:16 FRAISER (CONT’D): You see, we're essentially transferring the symbiote from

one to the other.

01:38:55:16 HAMMOND: How long can you keep them both alive that way?

01:38:57:20 FRAISER: I really don't know, sir. It's a miracle they've survived this long. Don't

ask me how Teal'c had the strength or the wherewithal to keep it up.

01:39:03:24 JONAS (O/S): Dr. Fraiser, forgive the obvious...

01:39:05:19 JONAS (CONT’D): but why can't we just get him another symbiote?

01:39:07:12 CARTER: We've looked into it. It's all but impossible right now to find a symbiote

that isn't already being used.

01:39:13:05 JONAS: Right.

01:39:14:10 HAMMOND: We contacted the Tok'ra as soon as we received your emergency

radio transmission and apprised them of Teal'c and Bra'tac's condition.

Jacob is on the way.


01:39:22:24 O'NEILL: Sir, if it comes down to a choice--

01:39:24:14 HAMMOND: Jack, we have to consider that Teal'c has already made a choice,

and according to Dr. Fraiser, he's gone through hell in order to see it

through.

01:39:32:25 O'NEILL: Well, let's hope it doesn't come down to that.

01:39:43:21 CARTER: Dad, thank God you're here.

01:39:45:16 JACOB: Hopefully I'm not too late.

01:39:53:01 JONAS: How are they?

01:39:55:00 TEAL'C: Shauna...

01:39:58:00 JONAS: Shauna?

01:40:01:10 FRAISER: Shaun'auc. She was very important in Teal'c's life.

01:40:04:14 FRAISER (CONT’D O/S): You see, when a Jaffa goes without his symbiote for

any protracted length of time, at least according to Jaffa legend, his life

flashes before his eyes.

01:40:12:19 FRAISER (CONT’D): You know, it might help if you talk to him.

01:40:18:03 JONAS: Yeah. Teal'c...


01:40:22:24 JONAS (CONT’D O/S): you've got to hang in there. I need you.

01:40:27:29 JONAS (CONT’D): You made me feel like one of the team.

01:40:31:29 JONAS (CONT’D): If there's anything I can do...

01:40:36:18 TEAL'C: Don't worry about it, Probie. Go back to sleep.

01:40:39:29 JONAS: Probie?

01:40:46:16 JACOB: Dr. Fraiser. What's their condition?

01:40:50:07 FRAISER: They're critical, all three of them.

01:40:53:04 O'NEILL: Three?

01:40:54:21 FRAISER: Due to his advanced age and the fact that his body is showing signs of

rejecting the symbiote, Bra'tac has had to have it longer than Teal'c. Now

it seems that the strain of keeping them both alive is too much for the

symbiote.

01:41:05:01 FRAISER (CONT’D): I don't think it could restore either one of them at this point.

01:41:11:25 JONAS: Well, what about a hand device?

01:41:13:24 JACOB: I brought something better, something that should work as effectively as

a symbiote...


01:41:18:24 JACOB (CONT’D O/S): at least for the short term.

01:41:20:19 O'NEILL: What's that?

01:41:22:01 CARTER: Tretonin, sir.

01:41:26:15 JONAS: The drug the Pangarans offered us?

01:41:28:08 O'NEILL: Whoa!

01:41:31:00 O’NEILL (CONT’D): That ground Goa'uld, isn't it?

01:41:32:15 JACOB: It's a little more refined than that, Jack, but yes, it is derived from

Goa'uld...

01:41:37:14 CARTER: It supplanted the immune system in the Pangarans. Why couldn't it do

the same...

01:41:40:18 CARTER (CONT’D O/S): for the Jaffa?

01:41:42:03 FRAISER: I've already considered it. It won't work. The sample I studied was

designed to take the place of a human immune system.


01:41:46:20 JACOB: We've since refined it specifically for Jaffa physiology. The Tok'ra have

been looking forward to an end to the Jaffa dependence on symbiotes

for centuries.

01:41:56:10 JACOB (CONT’D): Now, we've been working on this Tretonin variant since you

introduced us to the Pangarans, but it hasn't been tested.

01:42:02:03 FRAISER: Even if it does work, I mean, Teal'c and Bra'tac will become just as

dependent on the Tretonin as the Pangarans.

01:42:08:20 JACOB: Given time, we can solve that problem...

01:42:12:29 JACOB (CONT’D O/S): but at least they'll be alive.

01:42:15:11 FRAISER: If I knew for a fact that this is what Teal'c wanted--

01:42:18:13 CARTER (O/S): Janet...

01:42:19:18 CARTER (CONT’D): this could ultimately lead to freedom from Goa'uld

oppression for all Jaffa. That's something Teal'c and Bra'tac want more

than anything.

01:42:28:28 HAMMOND: Do it.

01:42:31:02 FRAISER: Yes, sir.

01:42:40:13 O'NEILL: Teal'c without Junior... that's a concept.


01:43:04:11 DANIEL: Hey, Teal'c.

01:43:07:00 TEAL'C: Am I dreaming?

01:43:08:18 DANIEL: No, not this time.

01:43:10:24 DANIEL (CONT’D O/S): It's late. Everyone's gone home for the night.

01:43:14:13 DANIEL (CONT’D): I just wanted to make sure you were okay.

01:43:16:09 TEAL'C: What of Bra'tac?

01:43:18:00 DANIEL: Bra'tac's fine... thanks to you.

01:43:22:06 TEAL'C: And to you as well, I believe.

01:43:24:14 DANIEL: No. No, that was you.

01:43:26:29 DANIEL (CONT’D O/S): I don't know anyone that could have done what you did.

You kept him alive for three days without ever thinking about yourself...

01:43:34:02 DANIEL (CONT’D): and every time you gave up your symbiote, you knew it might

be for the last time.

01:43:38:09 TEAL'C: This experience has been very different for me. It seemed so real.


01:43:47:08 DANIEL (O/S): Your mind took you where you needed to go to get you through
