March 11, 2011: 14:46 Earthquake, AC power down. 16:00~18:00 visual check of STF infrastructure, no severe damage was found.
March 28, 2011: STF building AC power recovery. functional check of STF infrastructure, EP facility (incl. clean-room, UPW, HPR); ok Vertical Test stand; ok klystrons filament; ok S1G cryomodule cavity & coupler vacuum; ok LLRF electronics; ok cryogenics control; ok pre-tuning machines, inspection camera, etc. ; ok computers and network, rad. 1 Vacuum pump : damagedCooling water system : damaged
Damaged
(1) Turbo-pump blades were completely damaged. It was working at 2F of VT stand.
(2) Water cooling system pipes were damaged.
Pipe cut Flex. Pipes bent
Immediate resuming is possible for the following work
(1) Surface treatment, inspection and pre-tuning of STF CM-1 cavities.(2) Disassembly and removing of S1-Global cryomodules and DRFS klystrons(3) Construction of STF phase-2 beam line, however, capture cryomodule and
couplers will delay about 2 months by factory damage.
(1) Klystrons operation(2) RF process of input couplers(3) RF process of RF-gun cavity
Resuming after water cooling system repair (it will take a month at least)
Following operation need to permission of lab-wide schedule. (They require 100kW~500kW)(1) Klystron operation for healthy check.(2) RF process of input couplers(3) RF process of RF-gun cavity(4) Cavity vertical test ( It require cryogenics operation for liquid He in KEK cryogenics center. )(5) Anneal furnace operation for cavity treatment (6) STF cryogenics operation for healthy check.
Since AC power use is strictly limited to 2MW in daytime, 5MW in night, for whole KEK, because of power shortage by power plant damage of Tokyo-electric.
