MissionEveryday we nourish our students with food that enables them to live healthy lives and thrive inside and outside the classroom.
VisionStudent Nutrition Services is a student centered, equitable, and financially stable school food eco-system that provides dignified meal experiences and engages all students in eating fresh, healthy food.
Goals
1. Nourish our Students with Good Food We provide access throughout the school day to food that is healthy, culturally diverse, affordable, fair, sustainable and loved by students.
2. Create Dignified Built Environments We create dining spaces that delight students and kitchen spaces that make it possible to prepare and serve good food.
3. Support a Thriving WorkforceWe invest in people, technology, and processes to create a thriving workforce and environment that fosters an innovative approach to achieving our vision.
4. Build a Strong School Food Culture We engage the whole community in creating a financially stable school food culture that activates students’ voices and shows how much we value and care for our students.

Maximizing Capacity of McAteer Culinary Center● Starting with Sanchez in 2020, prepare meals at McAteer for delivery to elementary schools
SFUSD Central Kitchen● Design Charrette: Partnering with Stupski Foundation to conduct design charrette including financial
modeling on SFUSD Central Kitchen concept.
Marina Catering Kitchen● Bond supported remodel of kitchen. Once completed Marina will serve all Refresh meals for breakfast
and lunch. Marina will also function as a Catering Kitchen.

RFQ/P for Prepared Meals and Delivery Services
In response to feedback from the Board, SNS issued a new RFQ/P for prepared meals and delivery services
● Issued an RFQ/P on September 18, 2019
● Designed to improve the quality of services for our students and increase competition
● For the first time three different scopes of work were included
● Solicited for a five year contract

1. 20 Middle & High Schools● Preparation and delivery of breakfast & lunch for our
Refresh schools
2. 114 Sites & EED Meal Deliveries● Preparation and delivery of breakfast, lunch, snacks,
and suppers for school year● EED deliveries from our McAteer Culinary Center year
round● Preparation and delivery for breakfast, lunch, and
snack for summer meals
3. Vended Snack Program● Direct services to schools that do not
qualify for free snack programs

Best Value Scoring
● Community tasting panel: four panels over two days; counted for 300/1000 points
● Evaluation Panel was observed by representative from Legal and Procurement
● Evaluation panel members included: 3 SNS employees, 1 SFUSD parent, and 1 CFO.
● Here are the results of the solicitation: ○ Three proposals were reviewed○ One deemed non-responsive○ Revolution Foods was evaluated as the best
value, responsible bidder for SOW 1 and SOW 2. No award for SOW 3.
● January 28, 2020 will ask Board to ratify five year contract for $11,500,000 for 2020-21 school year.
