Are you as passionate about the Largo Community
Center as we are? Our small group of current Senior
Advisory Board members needs your help! We are
looking for a few talented and creative volunteers to
assist us in raising funds for Community Center
programming that improve the quality of life for people
in our community. Can you spare 1-2 hours each month
(Sept – May) for board meetings; a couple hours to assist
with garage sales and help prepare and serve lunch for
concert guests one day in each month? We would
welcome your ideas!
Senior Advisory Board Seeks New Members
With the Senior Advisory Board still being on hiatus, Christina and I decided that I should write the update again this month. We are still embroiled in the pandemic, but we are all hanging in there. We’ve seen lots of chang-es … from being completely shut down, to being open for the fitness room only, to offering classes at limited ca-pacity, to now relaxing those capacities. Whew! My head is spinning just describing it. We have a couple of chang-es to keep everyone safe. We’re sanitizing equipment between classes. We’ve taken on some of the classes from Southwest and Highland during Summer Camp season. We’re asking everyone not to enter the building more than 10 minutes prior to classes and not to loiter after-ward. Additionally, it is now required to wear a mask in our building, although it can be removed while engaging in exercise or dance. Our Sunday night dance, card games and shows are still on hold for the time being, but we re-main poised and ready to bring them back as soon as we hear the word “Go.” We are forever grateful to have a group of loyal members who are excited to come back. We love seeing your smiling faces again. Even though your masks cover your mouths, we can tell you’re smiling because you smile with your eyes! – Doug
