INSTRUCTOR-LED Length: 3 DaysThe Wireless Mobile Component Development course provides delegates withhands-on experience developing mobile applications on the Java™ 2 Platform,Micro Edition (J2ME™ platform) using Connected, Limited Device Configuration (CLDC)and the Mobile Interface Device Profile (MIDP). The course provides information aboutMIDP 1.0 and MIDP 2.0 concepts and capabilities.
Some of the skills you can gain include:• Explain the J2ME platform architecture and the role of configurations and profiles• Build basic MIDlet applications and incorporate enhanced multi-media into MIDP-
based applications• Create and implement event-driven user interfaces using the high-level and low-level
application programming interface (API)• Implement local data storage on devices using the Record Management system
∂ µDTX-110 Introduction to XML
INSTRUCTOR-LED Length: 4 DaysThe Introduction to XML course provides delegates with the principles and use of XML (eXtensible Markup Language). The course takes a hands-on approach. It begins with the concepts of tagging and markup and moves quickly to more advancedtopics, such as validation and presentation. The course teaches key XML technologies, such as Document Type Definitions (DTDs), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), eXtensibleStyle Language for Transformation (XSLT), and schemas. The course labs employ Java™technology. The course materials include a copy of “XML, In a Nutshell” from O’Reillyand Associates, Inc., as reference material for the course.
Some of the skills you can gain include:• Mark up a page of data by using tags• Create a well-formed XML document• Create a valid XML document• Design a DTD for XML documents• Use a CSS to format an XML document• Use XSLT to transform an XML document• Use XSLT and XPath to transform an XML document
∂DWS-310 Web Services for Java™ Technology Programmer
INSTRUCTOR-LED Length: 2 Days The Web Services for Java™ Technology Programmers course provides delegates with anoverview of Web services. The course lab exercises demonstrate Web service technologywith a suite of RPC-style Web services created using Java technology components andAPIs and accessed by Web-based clients through a servlet endpoint. Delegates can applythe knowledge gained in this course to develop new RPC-style Web services or exposeexisting application functionality as an RPC-style Web service.
Some of the skills you can gain include:• Develop and deploy new functionality as an RPC-style Web service• Expose existing application functionality as an RPC-style Web service• Publish Web services to a UDDI registry• Develop clients that access published Web services
∂
FJ-310 Developing Applications for the J2EE™ Platform
INSTRUCTOR-LED Length: 5 Days The Developing Applications for the J2EE™ Platform course provides delegates with theknowledge to build and deploy enterprise applications that comply with Java™ 2Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) standards. The enterprise components presented inthis course include Enterprise JavaBeans™ (EJB™) technology, servlets, and JavaServerPages™ (JSP™) technology, and the Java technology clients that use them. Delegates gainhands-on experience through labs that build an end-to-end, distributed businessapplication. The labs explore session EJB components, which implement the SessionFacade pattern and provide a front-end to entity EJB components using container-managed persistence. The labs also explore message-driven EJB components, which actas Java Message Service (JMS) consumers. Delegates use Web and Java technologyclients to access Java technology-based enterprise services using servlets and pagescreated with JSP technology (JSP pages). Delegates are taught how to assemble anapplication from reusable components and deploy an application into the J2EE platformruntime environment.
Some of the skills you can gain include:• Describe the application model for the J2EE platform and the context for the model• Develop and test an EJB technology application • Develop a Web-based user interface to an EJB technology application • Configure the J2EE platform services layer
∂ µOO-226 Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML
INSTRUCTOR-LED Length: 5 Days The Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML course effectively combinesinstruction on the software development processes, object-oriented technologies, andthe Unified Modelling Language (UML). This instructor-led course uses lecture, groupdiscussion, and facilitator-led activities (such as analysing stakeholder interviews) topresent one practical, complete, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) roadmapfrom requirements gathering to system deployment.
Some of the skills you can gain include:• Describe the object-oriented software development process, including object-oriented
methodologies and workflows• Gather system requirements through interviews with stakeholders• Analyse system requirements to determine the use cases and domain model of the
problem domain (the Requirements model)• Create a system architecture (the Architecture model) supporting the non-functional
requirements and development constraints• Create a system design (the Solution model) supporting the functional requirements
