An Introduction to Clinical Supervision
From Principles to Practice

Introduction
This is a weekend workshop format for 2017 and will be presented during a three weekend, three month period: September 30th & October 1st, October 28th & 29th and November 25th & 26th. The course forms part of Tŷ Elis Counselling and psychotherapy practice for ongoing training and development of its services.
The days will begin at 2:00PM and finish at 8:00PM and will be held at Tŷ Elis Counselling, 14 Victoria Avenue, Porthcawl, Bridgend. Participants will need to provide their own meal. Teas and coffees will be made available throughout the day.
About the presenter
Billy Hardy is an experienced psychotherapist, mental health practitioner and clinical supervisor. He designed his first clinical supervision course back in 1992. Since then he has worked in a variety of contexts such as: Higher education, third sector and private practice. He is currently a doctoral researcher at the University of Bedfordshire as well a course leader for the MSc in Systemic Psychotherapy at the Family Institute. Format
The workshop format will cover themes which are grounded in practice and a variety of potential loops in relation practices will be explored either through didactic, group or experiential approaches. This will be offered on a weekend basis and the day will be from 2:00PM till 8:00PM.

Session 2 - Approach, Method and Technique
Session 3 - Learning how to utilise the supervisory relationship
Session 4 - Feedback as supervisee and supervisor.
Session 5 - Working with evidenced based practices:
Session 6 - Reflection on processes for Clinical Supervision.
Session 7 - Contracting, challenge and ethics
Session 8 - Methods 1:1 group, live
Session 9 - Giving and receiving feedback
Session 10 - Relational ethics in practice and supervision
Session 11 - Training contexts and working with competencies
Session 12 - Dealing with potential dilemmas
Who is it for?
This introduction is intended to be an inclusive project and may appeal to the newly qualified as well as experienced practitioner. It is intended to inform and expand on conceptual frames, methods and models. It will invite practitioners to think more deeply about the supervisory process and its principles. It will also invite a critical self-reflexive stance to supervision and consultation.
Assessment and evidencing development
There is a portfolio format which participants are encouraged to fulfil and will go towards evidencing their ongoing Continued Professional Development (CPD) portfolio.

offering reflections of theory, readings, etc.· Case presentation
This course is will be put forward for professional accreditation. It will count towards ongoing evidence of CPD as with many other events for counsellors and others who wish to enhance their existing practice.
Reading for the courseAll core texts and presentations will be supplied by the course facilitator and a small library will be made available to participants throughout the course.
Submission of Portfolio: to be submitted within two weeks from the end of the project.
Certificate of completion/attendance: This will be awarded at the end of the project.
Evaluation: The course will be evaluated using a number of methods to help inform future development
