UHCL Pearland Campus Scholarship Fund

Page 2: Support the Dream of Education

Thanks to the vision and tenacity of city officials and university administrators, University of Houston-Clear Lake and the City of Pearland saw the culmination of a dream in August 2010: the opening of a university campus to serve Pearland residents. With a “home-town” upper-level university, Pearland students will no longer have to go far to pursue their own dream of a bachelor’s degree.

However, for some there remains one obstacle toward attaining the dream of higher education beyond geography: finances. Whether a student is continuing their education by transferring from a community college, or re-starting their education to enhance their personal or professional life, a common impediment is paying for their education.

To ensure that bright, motivated Pearland community college students will be encouraged to pursue a bachelor’s degree and become the business and civic leaders of the Pearland of tomorrow, scholarship support is essential. Scholarship assistance always increases accessibility of higher education, as it is a form of financial aid that does not need to be repaid.

We invite you to invest in the dream of an individual – and in the vision of Pearland – with your scholarship contribution to the UHCL Pearland Campus Scholarship Fund. You can specify your scholarship for students in particular majors, or from specific Pearland areas, high schools or community colleges.

David Palmer makes a living building things.

As president of Palmer Construction, LLC, David Palmer has been part of University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus from the day city leaders dreamed of it until now, when it has become a community reality.

Knowing that it takes more than floors and walls for students to build their futures through education, David Palmer and his wife created the David and Stephanie Palmer Family Scholarship endowment. This first endowment, created specifically for students attending UH-Clear Lake Pearland Campus, will help students build their futures while staying in the Pearland community.

To commemorate this historic gift, the plaza outside the south lobby has been named Palmer Plaza and will serve as a special place for students and community members. As the hub around which future buildings will be constructed, this visible legacy of the Palmer family’s commitment to education will inspire all who gather there for years to come.

UH-Clear Lake Pearland Campus built its foundation with a collaborative spirit and will continue to grow in that same spirit for the Pearland community.
