Scientific Program of the Conference:
The majority of the topics to be discussed during the conference are:
a) Finite fields and Nearfields
b) Modules over associative rings
c) Connections to algebra and analysis,
d) Nearring Theory and automata theory,
e) Planar nearrings-balanced incomplete block designs (BIBDs)
f) Combinatorial designs using nearfields
g) Entire solution of the n-gen problems
h) Gamma nearrings
i) Baer Nearrings
j) Radical theory of rings and nearrings
k) Nearrings of Continuous mappings
l) Semigroup automata
m) Matrix nearrings, Group Nearrings
Scientific Importance
a) Planar nearrings are useful to develop several balanced incomplete block designs (BIB designs)
b) Efficient error-correcting codes (linear as well as non-linear) are obtained from nearrings.
c) Well-known concepts of geometry like collineation, dilatation, translation etc. are handled with the help of nearrings giving rise to a "dictionary" between geometry and group theory.
d) One of the applications of group theory is in the study of symmetry. Conservation laws of physics are related to the symmetry of physical laws under various transformations. There are several results which explain how conservation laws of physical systems arise from their symmetries.
e) Non-linear transformations were handled using algorithms involving nearring generators wherein group theoretical algorithms could not be applied.
f) The GAP package SONATA stands for systems of nearrings and their applications. The SONATA package provides (i) methods for the construction and analysis of finite nearrings, (ii) methods for constructing all endomorphisms and all fixed-point-free automorphisms of a given group, (iii) constructing the nearring of polynomial functions of the group, (iv) Constructing the functions to obtain solvable fixed-point-free automorphism groups on abelian groups, nearfields, planar nearrings, as well as designs from those, etc.
Objectives of the conference:
• To discuss new ideas, share results and identify new trends in nearrings and related topics in algebra.
• To demonstrate the links between nearrings and other algebraic structures with the help of special plenary sessions on algebra.
• To provide a platform to young researchers to meet eminent researchers in the field and present their ideas.
• To discuss the recent unsolved problems in the related fields and facilitate the young researchers to get acquaintance with eminent speakers.
• To discuss / demonstrate one of the major breakthrough research problems ‘Entire solution of the n-gen problems’.
Neighboring countries context:
This conference provides an opportunity of participation for the researchers in neighboring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, UAE, Sri Lanka, etc. African countries Nigeria, South Africa, Botswana, and South East Asian Countries. Few speakers from these countries have shown their interest in the 24th International Conference on Nearrings, Nearfields and Related Topics, as this conference gives them an unique opportunity to meet and interact with eminent researchers working in the area of nearrings and related algebraic structures.

Level of activity:
• The plenary talks are likely at the advanced level covering new concepts, results; explore the open problems and several characterizations.
• Few invited talks are at the introductory level with extensive coverage of the application domain.
• Short communications stretches participants to explore their research and interacting with eminent experts.
• The participants likely to attend the conference are the post graduate level, research scholars with mathematics background.
• Academicians from the Universities, Research centres are likely to attend the conference and present their recent work.
• There is an opportunity for the participants to get acquaintance with introductory level of the new research areas in algebra.
Follow-up activity:
• There is a virtuous practice that the proceedings of the conference are published by the prominent publishers like Springer, Elsevier, Narosa etc. The proceedings contain original full research articles of plenary talks, invited talks, short communications, after its peer review by an editorial expert committee. The copies of the published proceedings are then sent to the participants, scientific libraries, research centres etc.
• We also plan to have lecture notes in the form of proceedings of the 24th International Conference on Nearrings, Nearfields and related topics, soon after the conference. This will be a discussion point during the business meeting of the conference.
Effort to encourage the formation of scientific network:
The Institute of Algebra Johannes Kepler University is a centre for Nearrings research in Austria. The Institute of Algebra Austria periodically publishes the nearrings newsletter. The newsletter contain the recent abstracts of the conference, details of the recently published papers, abstract of the theses, monographs, text books and related updates of nearrings, nearfileds, and related topics. Similar to the Institute of Algebra (Johannes Kepler University, Austria), the conference will help us to form a regional interactive group in India on nearrings (which as of now does not exist in India). We will have a public lecture by one of the eminent speakers and a discussion session for the development of the field. We will put special efforts towards achieving these goals.
Letter of request:
March 4, 2015
To
International Mathematical Union
Sub: Request for the conference support to conduct the 24th International Conference on Nearrings, Nearfields and Related Topics – Regarding.
Respected Sir / Madam,
We are happy to inform you that the 24th International Conference on Nearrings, Nearfields and Related Topics will be held during 05 -12, July 2015 at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal University, Manipal, India. The conference URL is http://conference.manipal.edu/nearrings2015/.
Starting from the year 1968, nearring conferences are held approximately every two years. The present conference is the 24th international conference. Previously, the conferences were held in countries namely Germany, Italy, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, Austria etc. In Asia, the conference took place earlier in India (in the year 1985) and in Taiwan (in the year 2005). Hence we wish to encourage participation not just from India but even from the neighboring countries, African
countries, and South East Asian Countries. This will require some financial support from International Organizations like IMU. Hence we request you to kindly consider the application for the conference grant. The grant provided in any form will be of great help for encouraging wide participation from different countries and will contribute towards the success of the event. We will happily acknowledge the grant in all possible ways including abstract booklets, conference material, conference website, etc.
We look forward for your kind encouragement and support.
Yours sincerely,
Kuncham Syam Prasad
