Advertising
• Advertising is a form of communication for marketing.
• It is used to encourage, persuade, or manipulate an audience (viewers, readers or listeners; sometimes a specific group) to continue or take some new action.
• Most commonly, the desired result is to drive consumer behavior with respect to a commercial offering, although political and ideological advertising is also common.

Mass Media & New Media
• Advertising messages are usually paid for by sponsors.
• People can see advertisements through various
traditional media; including mass media such as
newspaper, magazines, television commercial, radio
advertisement, outdoor advertising or direct mail; or new
media such as blogs, websites or text messages.
Advertising objectives
• Commercial advertisers often want to increased
consumption of their products or services through
"branding," which involves associating a product name
or image with certain qualities in the minds of
consumers.
• Non-commercial advertisers who spend money to
advertise items other than a consumer product or service
include political parties, interest groups, religious
organizations and governmental agencies.
• Nonprofit organizations may rely on free modes of
persuasion, such as a public service announcement
Sponsor
• To sponsor something is to support an event, activity,
person, or organization financially or through the
provision of products or services.
• A sponsor is the individual or group that provides the
support, similar to a benefactor.
Logo
• A logo is a graphic mark or emblem commonly used by commercial enterprises, organizations and even individuals to aid and promote instant public recognition. Logos are purely graphic (symbols/icons) or are composed of the name of the organization (a logotype or wordmark).
• At the level of mass communication and in common usage a company's logo is today often synonymous with its trademark or brand.

Slogan • A slogan is a memorable motto or phrase used in a
political, commercial, religious, and other context as a repetitive expression of an idea or purpose.
• Slogans vary from the written and the visual to the chanted and the vulgar. Their simple rhetorical nature usually leaves little room for detail, and a chanted slogan may serve more as social expression of unified purpose, than as communication to an intended audience.
• Examples: • L'Oreal - Because I'm worth it
• Nike - Just do it. (1988)
• NOKIA - Connecting people
• Samsung - Everyone's invited
• OPEL - Wir leben Autos
• Obama’s campaign – Yes, we can
