ReflectionsReflections
Light Well interactions
Reflections is a hypothetical, multi-level installation that studies the reflective quality of light. Panels of copper, mirrors, wood, and plexiglass come together to form glimmering prisms. These prisms cut through the ground plane and are designed to be pushed and pulled by the users with ease, then locked into place. This assortment of positions and materials allow for light to enter in a variety of intensities. These same pathways that allow light to enter also allow for the users range of vision to pass through the prism and the ground plane, and be able to view others above or below them.
9
-
Section
The disconnected ground planes provide an air of
curiousity as the prisms provide glances
of the hidden worlds above or below the users.

Maleablenetworks
openideo field office and eastern headquarters
OpenIdeo provides an international platform for people from all walks of life to come together, connect, and make the world a better place by collectively looking at one socioeconomic problem at a time. This design looks at the workplace as a changing space. Just as OpenIdeo is a maleable network, this office design allows connections to be modified to be closer together or further apart, depending on the needs of each project. In allowing this maleability, creativity is allowed to flow easily throughout the open workspace.

CONNECTIVITY
Maleable Connectivity Diagram
Step 1: Iteration Step 2: InterpretationUsing Rhino and Grasshopper, several iterations of an organic connectivity diagram were created.
By selecting the lines from the main gesture of each iteration, one interpretation was applied to each floor.
Using Rhinos TweenCurves, a twist was created.

Paneled Wall Elevation
Wander began with a smaller project-- to create a
wall. This wall panel was then to be integrated into
the residential project.
The final wall created has a fluid form, mimicking waves. The dark teal
highlighted by the shining silver evoke the depth and reflectivity of
water.
Its idea began with topographical lines.
A main shape was outlined, echoed by other lines around it. From there, a more fluid iteration was created.
The wall panel was then cut into several panels, with both horizontal and vertical iterations were examined.
The shape of the waves encourage your eyes to float along with the ribbons of silver, suspended on the strong waves.

Wanderresidency project catered to client interview
Wander is a residential project designed for a client. After interviewing the client about her preferences & needs, it was determined that she needed a home with many rooms to explore. Inspired by nature, the two glass buildings were joined by a fissure in the center of the home that serves as the homes main hallway. The hallway branches off to seperate quarters of the home. This same hallway echoes a trail in a forest of birch trees, to accomodate the clients love of nature, but need for seperation of the interior from the exterior.
-
Nature Building Materials Drawing the Rooms Materials
Making process models from abstract materials to real materials, the idea of a fissure hallway connecting the two buildings was born.
Inspired by the fractals that happen in nature, the fissure that seperates the two buildings created one large crack, reverberated by the smaller crevices.
Again taking inspiration from nature, the idea that life sprouts and happens in the resulting crevices left by the split. This diagram shows how circulation might occur and life might flow through the fissures.

The homes layout also provides a

The wavy paneled wall was inspired by an earlier project. Here it serves as library
shelving in the home.

The living room and library nook provides a bright and warm space to host visitors, read a book, or simply relax.
The clean lines in the kitchen provide a contrast to the rest of the colorful home. Its peaceful dining area and spacious countertops make it perfect for hosting visitors-- an important aspect to the client.
