LASER RANGEFINDER FAMILY LASER RANGEFINDER FAMILY
In Director and Fire Control Systems (FCS), the Laser Rangefinder enables a Low probability to be observed and, with its exact and narrow lobe, is hard to combat as it is virtually immune to Electronic Warfare.
The lasers are based on solid state technology for the low-hazard laser wavelength (1.57 µm) generation and can, through a well-balanced trade off between output energy and detection sensitivity, provide accurate ranging of air and ground targets over distances up to the maximum instrumented range. A high pulse repetition rate makes it possible to improve system-tracking accuracy against fast moving and manoeuvring targets.
The peRfecT fiT
Saab’s comprehensive suite of Laser Rangefinders means you will be able to find the perfect version or versions to enhance your capabilities. We have a series of modular options for integration to be used for target or ground ranging. Saab Laser Rangefinders provide high user-availability with a design based on well-proven, reliable and easily exchangeable sub-modules and dedicated built-in test functions. Our modules can be adapted in both size and shape to meet specific customer requirements.
Saab’s Laser Rangefinders are designed and environmentally approved for use as target rangefinders in airborne, ground-based and naval systems requiring low-hazard functionality and high performance. The compact, lightweight design is ideally suited for integration with advanced fire control and other telemetric systems.

heiMdall
The HEIMDALL laser rangfinder is designed to range and track moving objects. It can be integrated for different types of applica-tions, both military and civil. Laser pulses are continuously sent within the low-hazard laser wavelength (1,57 μm) to detect the range to selected objects. HEIMDALL is a truly eye safe Class 1 laser and can therefore be used in public areas.
g-fReJ
With a compact lightweight and modular configuration, G-FREj Laser Rangefinders are designed for easy integration into electro-optical systems for various applications. The G-FREj series is available in several versions: as a complete laser rangefinder, a laser rangefinder for integration into an electro-optical system, or as a module. Several versions are approved and in production as target ranging devices in army surveillance and FCSs.
odin
ODIn Laser Rangefinders are designed for use in combat vehicle systems. Several versions are approved and in production as target ranging devices in army Surveillance and FCSs, and for ground ranging in anti-aircraft systems. ODIn is available as a complete laser rangefinder, as a laser rangefinder for integration into an electro-optical system, or as modules.
g-ToR
G-TOR Laser Rangefinders form an integral part of electro-optical anti-aircraft systems and provide ranging support in radar-based FCSs. Capable of up to 25 Hz pulse rate for long periods, the TOR Laser Rangefinder consists of a Transceiver Unit (TU) for gimbal or sight mounting, and a Power Unit (PU) in versions for open or sheltered mounting. Units are in production and currently operational with several armies.
s-fReJ
The S-FREj series is available in several versions; as a complete laser rangefinder, as a laser rangefinder for integration into an electro-optical system, or as modules. Several versions are approved and in production as target ranging devices in navy surveillance and FCSs.
s-ToR
The S-TOR forms an integral part of electro-optical anti-aircraft systems, and provides ranging support in radar-based FCSs. This Laser is in production and currently operational within several navies.
