Tham & Wong was established in 1991 to succeed the firm of Tham & Wong Consultants
Pte Ltd which was established since 1984. This transition was in response to the
implementation of the Professional Engineers Act of 1991. The firm of Tham & Wong is
in full compliance with the Professional Engineers Act 1991 and is an Accredited
Checking Organisation registered with the Building and Construction Authority.
The company is managed by the partners Er.Tham Poh Kuan, Er. Wong Seng who are
registered professional engineers with many years of experience in design, construction
and project management of major construction projects. The company key objective is
to provide engineering expertise and ingenuity to achieve the client's objectives
including completing the projects on time, within budget and to the right quality.
Tham & Wong offers a full range of civil and structural covering infrastructural,
residential, industrial, commercial and institutional projects. The company has been
involved in a large number of highrise buildings in this region.
In recent years Tham & Wong has been engaged as Structural Engineer for the design of
numerous highrise buildings in Vietnam and Thailand other than Singapore..
Tham & Wong has been using numerous state-of-the art analytical programs such as
ETABS, SAFE, ADAPT, PROKON & etc in resolving sophisticated buildings or structures in
seismic & non-seismic region.

From a modest beginning, Tham & Wong has grown over the years to become an

• Er.Wong obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) from the University
of Melbourne.
• He is a registered Professional Engineer in Singapore and a Fellow member of the
Institution of Engineers Singapore. He is a Chartered Engineer in UK, a Chartered
Professional Engineer in Australia, an Associate of the Institution of Structural
Engineers and Corporate Member of the Australia Institution of Engineers.
• He is also an Accredited Checker registered with the BCA Singapore.
• Er.Wong has been involved in various major residential and commercial
development projects as well as in the construction of public housing projects using
industrialized method in the early 80s. For the past 15 years, he has been involved
in the design & construction of 21 major residential, industrial, commercial and
infrastructure projects in Singapore, Vietnam & China when he was the Prinicipal in
T Y Lin International Pte Ltd.
• He was the Qualified Person for one of the six major Deep Tunnel Sewerage System
Tunnel projects in Singapore.
• He has been a council member of the Institution of Engineers Singapore from 1998
to 2001 and held chairmanship of the Civil and Structural Technical Committee from

• Er.Tham obtained his Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) with first class
Honours from the University of Dundee (U.K.) in 1979. Er.Tham has also
obtained his Master of Science Degree in Project Management from the
National University of Singapore.

• Er. Leow obtained her Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) from the
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 1996. She is a registered
Professional Engineer in Singapore and a corporate member of the Singapore
Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore.
• Er. Leow has commenced her engineering career with the Housing
Development Board upon graduation from NTU. She joined KP Chai as
Structural Engineer involved in the design of both HDB and private
condominiums for more than two years. Subsequently she joined TYLin
International Pte Ltd as the Executive Structural Engineer in 1999 and she has
been given the task to overseas the design of contract administration of
numerous projects i.e. the Belmont Green Condominium and the Boon View
Condominium.
• Er. Leow as the Partner of the company is presently undertaking the role of
overseeing the design development, supervision and project administration
of projects i.e. Citylights Condominium, addition & alterations to existing
Market Street Carpark, additions & alterations to existing Sembawang

• Ir. Yee obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) from the University
Of Sunderland, UK in 1996. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Malaysia and

• Ir. Yee is a Civil & Structural engineer with 16 years of experience in the construction
Industry with both consulting and site experience He has been responsible for the
design of variety types of building in Singapore, Thailand & Malaysia. These include

depot and schools.

Ir. Lim is a Civil & Structural engineer with 13 years of experience in the construction

BEng, MEng (HUCE), PhD (NTU), Asean Engineer, PEng( Vietnam),
Nguyen Ngoc Ba obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees in Civil Engineering
from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in 1993 and 1999, respectively. He
obtained his PhD from Nanyang Technological University in 2005.
He was awarded Asean Engineer membership in 2006 by Asean Federation of
Engineering Organisations. He is also a member of Vietnam Concrete Association.
Dr. Ba has been involved in design, design checking, laboratory testing and field
testing for variety types of buildings. He has also been involved in drafting and
reviewing structural design codes of Vietnam while he was working in Vietnam
Institute for Building Science and Technology.
