..and my love affair with cameras
After having engaged in photography for three decades
using varied camera formats, I am certain that there are
a lot to learn especially in its migration into the digital
domain. But, amidst all these faster, sharper and
Sophisticated image-making gadgets of today, I still
treasure my selective film shooting discipline as I adapt
myself to the use digital cameras.

"The camera reporter makes a major contribution toward greater understanding among the people of all nations. Pictorial reportage is the most universal of all languages. It is an indispensable tool of freedom in these days when so many people are oppressed and personal freedom is restricted in many parts of the world" Dwight D. Eisenhower

Photographing Women remains one of the most exciting and lucrative profes-sion in the world but most published images are often post processed with digi-tal tools to enhance its looks. The challenge really is for the photographer to produce a finished picture within the shoot.
..at least momentarily when Baguio's sky was painted red and ash grey. Just a stone's throw away from my residence, the Univer-sity of Baguio's prep high school building and the RCB Building (upper floors) virtually became an inferno as it was eaten up by fire before noontime of February 16. Upon noticing the commotion from nearby dorm residents, successive text messages from my daughter Tam and frantic calls to my daughter Inah who is about to go to UB Science High, I rushed to the school in shorts with an almost battery drained Sony PD150 DVcam and memory low Nikon D40. My stills recorded the collapse of the Dap-Ayan Hall and the water drenched firefighters and volun-teers putting off the huge flames. As a member of the Cordillera Regional Disaster Coordi-nating Council (CRDCC), I am posting these images for purposes of post-disaster evaluation and analysis. I hope that this incident will serve as a reminder that disasters strikes anytime and any place without prior warning and worst can happen when one is caught unprepared.
Communicating Through Photographs & Graphics
" A picture that speaks" - grab a photograph that can tell a story. This is the challenge that I posed to the attendees of a recent workshop that we conducted in Baguio. I discussed the basics of photography from shoot-ing a still to moving objects to composition following the rule of thirds. We also used a car's sun shield as a reflector during an outdoor shoot. The Baguio Media Museum and Animation Studio has a learning module for beginners to serious amateurs and even advance Photography with guest lecturers.
