St. Mary’s Alumni Spotlight #4 Mady Pahl, along with two other seniors, led the Hortonville Lady Hoops to the State Tournament on March 9th after a 14 – 4 winning season. Mady is one of our St. Mary alumni of
whom we are very proud. Another St. Mary alumni was also represented at that game. Tony Fannin started the afternoon off by singing the National Anthem at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Great to see our students succeeding in all of their future endeavors!
And a huge welcome to Maria Fannin, also a St. Mary Alumni, who joins St. Mary in a new role for her. Maria is excited to be our new Youth Minister. Being a part of the youth program here at St. Mary is what helped to make her faith her own. She will be graduating this May from UW-Green Bay with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and will be continuing to get certification in youth
ministry! As many of you may know, Maria sings and has started writing her own music. She is looking forward to helping the youth of our parish! Please feel free to reach out to Maria with any questions, ideas, or comments. And if you see her around, please welcome her new beginnings at St. Mary’s School and Parish!

“Paws” for Reflection
Mr. David Holton came to St. Mary’s School to talk with the middle school students about the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse. This is where our Lenten collection will be going this year. These were some of the middle school student reflections on his talk.
“Some people here in America have more than we need, but yet we are still unhappy because we don’t have the family environment, love, and support that the people in these cultures have. Mr. Holton taught us that we should not look at the suffering of others; instead, look at the joy that they have even though they have so little. They set a perfect example of how we should live our lives – always happy and loving.” ~Allison Harikkala
“Mr. Holton told us not to donate anything that we wouldn’t use ourselves because it’s one thing to give up something that you don’t like or that you think is trash, but the real challenge is to take something that we actually like and use, and then donate those. Mr. Holton used an analogy that when Jesus reached out to
the poor people, he didn’t give them garbage. He gave them stuff that is better than the stuff they already have in order to truly make the world a better place.” ~Cooper Johnson
“Mr. Holton really made me care more about the things that I own and need to survive. He really taught me that I should not ask so many times for things that I don’t need but that I want. He really taught me how many people there are in the world that don’t have much to live off of.” ~Rhiannon Reichenbacher
“I will donate everything I can. I take many every-day items for granted. But after that presentation I realized how fortunate I am to have soap, fresh clothes, pencils, napkins, etc.” ~Kendall Ewing

He found Grace who is our library, first grade, and lunchroom volunteer ,serving lunch. Fang wants to remind all the students that they should be reading for the Home Run segment of the program now and that 3rd Base Fangs are due on or before Friday, March 16th to earn a mini-notebook.

classes that can double that number!
*Items needed include diapers, bar soaps, shampoo & band aids...
Grades 3-4 Visit the PAC Good thing we did not have a snow day on Tuesday or the students would have missed the symphony concert at the Performing Arts Center in Appleton. Here are
just a few comments students had afterwards. “The concert was amazing! This was different than seeing a play. I learned they tune their instruments first. We enjoyed listening to nice soothing music. My favorite song was the Harry Potter music. We got to participate by clapping rhythms with our hands. I really liked the finger warm ups. That was funny. I enjoyed interacting with the music by clapping while they were playing. I liked the concert because we learned about the different musicians and their pieces of music. I learned about all the different instruments and their sections in the orchestra. I noticed that everyone wore black, even the conductor. One musician had a black hat. They dress in black so we don’t get distracted by their clothes. They want you to listen to the music. There was lots of people, and lots of music, outside there was lots of buses. There was a screen way up in front that showed a picture of each musician and where in the world they were from. They showed folding paper for origami on the big screen. I sat in a comfy chair and there were many other classes around us. I liked the music and how many people and kids were there and a ton of clapping and how beautiful the music was. I liked the sound. It was great!” The music they heard was “Festival Coronation March” by Tchaikovsky, “Academic Festival Overture” by Brahms, “Conga del Fuego” by Arturo Marquez, and “Harry Potter Suite” by John Williams.
Kendall Ewing was the winner of the Caught Reading Drawing for
