Rep. Porter has remained committed to putting Orange County families first.
She currently serves as a member of the House Financial Services Committee. Before Congress, Porter spent nearly two decades as a consumer finance expert. Congresswoman Porter helped Congress pass the original Credit CARD Act in 2009, which enacted federal protections from abusive credit card fees.
First elected to Congress in July 2009, Rep. Chu represents consituents in Pasadena and the west San Gabriel Valley.
Congresswoman Chu serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Small Business Committee. In 2011, Chu was elected Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC). Chu also founded and co-chairs the Congressional Creative Rights Caucus.

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ only charity and the highest honor bestowed upon young Americans. The program is open to all young people ages 13 1/2 to 23. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Certificates and Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration.

California is the most active state in The Congressional Award’s national portfolio, ranking #1 in both number of enrolled participants and number of awards earned.
Southern California (congressional districts 24-53) has produced 7,431 awardees all-time. There are currently 6,535 participants pursuing the award in the region. The 187 Congressional Award Medalists being honored this year have contributed 38,749 hours of voluntary public service to their communities.
