Denmark as a Green Frontrunner
The new Energy Agreement in Denmark
Jane Glindvad Kristensen, Head of Division, Danish Energy Agency
.
Danish Energy Policy AgreementThe Agreement applies for the period 2018-24 - based on a broad political agreement
The target is: 55% renewable energy in 2030 Net zero CO2 emissions by 2050
Principles of the Agreement: The market shall, as far as possible,
conduct the green transition
The ambition is that the green transition can take place on commercial terms in a few years
Electricity will be the dominant source of energy
Tenders for 3 new offshore wind
farms of at least 800 MW
Initiatives
Tenders of support for solar and wind
power on land – 215 MW expected
annuallyContinued
financial support for biomass plants and expansion of biogas
and other green gases
Tax Initiatives
Lower electricitytax - makes us
better utilize the green power -for example to
heat or transport
The electricity heating tax is
halved
The general Electricity tax is reduced by
15%
Money savingsin households
Energy Efficiency Initiativesin business and housing
40 million to reduce business energy consumption
26 million for energy savings in households
Support for replacement of household oil boilers
Support for municipal and regional energy renovation
Information on energy savings
Support for green gases
Closing of present support
scheme for biogas in 2020
Productionceling
New support scheme for biogas and other green gases
• For upgrading, transport and industrialprocesses
• 240 million a year• Prefereable a tender• A share will be reserved for ecological
biogas
• No aid for biogas used for heating• Biogas for electricity production will be
supported as electricity productionfrom other biomasses
Expectations to the development in gasproduction

A gas strategy focusing on how the Danish gas
infrastructure can be used commercially in the green
transformation of the energy system.
Gas strategyWill look at the
framework conditions for:
- Competitive increase of biogas and other green gases
- Investments and activities in the North Sea
- Integration of energy systems
Will beconducted2019-2021
500.000 kr. a year to analysis
etc.
Transport Initiatives
100 million kr. to further green transportation
Fall 2018
Individualtransportation on land
Collective transportation on land
Collectivetransportation at sea
Liberalization of the heating sector -greater freedom in choosing fuels
From 2025 an annual pool of 60 million euros for further investments in renewable energy
Agreement on continued exploitation of resources in the North Sea
Coal phased out in energy supply by 2030
Smart and flexible energy system
