Mark 9:14-29

Mark 9:14-15

And when He came to his disciples, he

saw a great multitude around them,

and the scribes disputing with them.

And when they saw Him, immediately

all the people were greatly amazed,

and, running to Him, they greeted Him.

Mark 9:16-17

And He asked the scribes, "What are you disputing about with them?”

And one of the multitude answered and said, "Master, I have brought you my son, who has a mute spirit…

Mark 9:18

And wherever he seizes hold of him, he

throws him down, and he foams at the

mouth and grinds his teeth, and he is

wasting away; and I spoke to your

disciples that they should cast him out,

and they could not."

Mark 9:19

He answered him, and said,

“O faithless generation, how long shall

I be with you? How long shall I endure

you? Bring him to me.”

Mark 9:20

And they brought him to Him, and when

he saw Him, immediately the spirit put

him into convulsions; and he fell on the

ground, and rolled around, foaming at

the mouth.

Mark 9:21-22

And He asked his father, “How long

has it been since this came to him?”

And he said, “Since childhood. And

many times it has cast him into the fire,

and into the waters, to destroy him;

but if you can do anything, have

compassion on us, and help us!”

Mark 9:23-24

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe,

all things are possible to him who

believes.”

And immediately the father of the child

cried out, and said with tears, "Lord, I

believe; help my unbelief!"

Mark 9:25

When Jesus saw that the people came

running together, He rebuked the

unclean spirit, saying to him,

"You mute and deaf spirit, I command

you, come out of him, and enter no

more into him."

Mark 9:26-27

And the spirit cried, and caused him to

convulse greatly, and came out of him,

and he was as a dead man - so much

so that many said, "He is dead!“

But Jesus took him by the hand, and

lifted him up; and he arose.

Mark 9:28-29

And when he had come into the house,

his disciples asked him privately,

"Why could we not cast him out?“

And He said to them,

"This kind can come forth by nothing

but prayer and fasting."

Remember Jesus’ Commission!

…these signs shall follow those who

believe: in my name shall they cast out

demons; they shall speak with new

tongues... they shall lay hands on the

sick, and they shall recover."

Mark 16:17-18
