GCA Awards and Procedures
Magna Cum Laude Summa Cum Laude
must be enrolled in both Canadian and Chinese subjects at GCA.

No Fails No FailsAverage of 80-90% in all subjects (Canadian and Chinese).
Average of 91% or higher in all subjects (Canadian and Chinese).
At the end of each school year, students who have been named to the Honour Roll for three out of four terms are given a special award.
Academic Award
Grades Ten to Twelve
First year CertificateSecond year Medal Third Year GCA Plaque + inducted
onto the GCA’s Honour Society
This award is presented to the student who shows the most academic improvement over the course of their GCA career.
Grade 12 Academic Improvement Award
Academic Athlete of the Year (Male/Female):◦ Participation in at least two, preferably three
separate school sports and maintain a school average of 80% or above.
◦ Sportsmanship, leadership, commitment to the school team, and service to athletics
◦ Contribution to the school community◦ Reliable, professional, enthusiastic attitude and
serves as a role model for the school community
Athletic Award Criteria
All-around Athlete (Male/Female):◦ Participation in three separate school sports◦ Demonstration of outstanding athletic efforts◦ Sportsmanship, leadership, commitment to the
school team, and service to athletics◦ Contribution to the school community◦ Inspirational or unsung hero
Awards for service to the school are based on a cumulative point system. One point is awarded for each five hours of service.
