Beginning Wednesday, February 13th, representatives from the AARP will be coming to Golden Hours to assist member with their
taxes. This is a free service and is by appointment only. Appointments can be made may by calling Golden Hours at 801-629-8864, or by stopping by the front desk. Tax appointments are available every Wednesday throughout Tax season.
The Golden Hours Senior Council meets the Last Tuesday of the month at 11am. All meetings are open to the public.
The Golden Hours Advisory Commit-tee meets the Second Wednesday of the month at 12:30 pm. The next meeting will be Wednesday, February 13
Special Accommodations Persons needing special accommoda-tions to participate in activities at the Cen-ter are requested to inquire at the front desk. The Center will make every effort to assist hearing, vision or physically im-paired participants. Please notify us at least three working days in advance of the need at 801-629-8864.

Ceramics Visit with friends as you create lovely ceramic pieces in this drop-in class. Students will select a ceramic piece they would like to paint to create a colorful ceramic piece to have in your home or give as a gift. Pieces are available for selection in the class. No experience is required. When: Mondays 10am-11am Cost: $1.00 + Materials
Exercise Class Build strength and balance with this low impact exercise class. Students will use light hand weights, resistant bands, balls, and more to enjoy a fun workout with the certified instructor, Jeannie. Most of the exercises are seated exercises, pre-formed in chairs. Beginning Line Dance Line Dancing is a fun way to get moving! Learn this popular dance and get in shape at the same time. This class is for be-ginners and no partner or experience necessary. Come ready to move in comfortable shoes. When: Thursdays 12:30pm-1:30pm Cost: Included w/ Membership
Art Class Learn various art techniques including drawing and painting. Tuesday classes will focus on a specific technique with in-struction from our Art Instructor, Robert. Thursdays will be an open studio to give artists the opportunity to work on any piece of artwork. When: Tuesdays/Thursdays 10am-12pm Cost: Materials
Line Dancing Need to brush up on your Line Dancing skills? Join this class where you will learn fun, new line dances. Work with experienced line dancers to improve your skills and im-press your friends. Some line dancing experience is neces-sary for this class. When: Fridays 10am-11:30am Cost: Included w/ Membership
Guitar Learn basic chords and more in this beginning guitar class. No experience is required! Impress your friends by learning this beautiful instrument. When: Thursdays 12pm-1pm Cost: Included w/ Membership
Tai Chi Tai Chi began in China in the 1600’s in martial arts. The Tai Chi taught at Golden Hours was designed by Dr. Paul Lam to help with arthritis and balance (fall prevention). In this class we take our time to be safe and smooth. “There’s no hurry in Tai Chi”. Come and try the class! When: Tuesdays 10am-11am Cost: Included w/ Membership
Spanish Brush up on your Spanish with this intermediate level Span-ish class. You should know basic level Spanish in order to participate in the lessons. When: Fridays 10am-11:30am Cost: Included w/ Membership
Beginning Ukulele Learn the basics of playing the ukulele! In this class you’ll learn simple chords, finger placement, and songs. If you do not have a ukulele one can be provided for the class. When: Tuesdays 1pm Cost: Included w/ Membership

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. To prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, Golden Hours is proudly partici-pating in American Heart Month. As of 2018 Utah was ranked 2nd as the Healthiest State with the percentage of adults who reported being told by a health professional that they have angina or coronary heart disease at only 2.7%. (americashealthranking.org) To help keep Utah one of the healthiest states you can participate in one or all of the activities we offer to help keep you aware and healthy during American Heart Month.
Participate in one of our Exercise Classes! We have Tai Chi on Tuesdays at 10am and Exercise Class on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10am.
Attend the CPR Training on Wednesday, February 27 at 10:30am.
You can make healthy changes to lower your risk of de-veloping heart disease. Controlling and preventing risk factors is also important for people who already have heart disease. To lower your risk: Watch your weight. Control your cholesterol and blood pressure. Get active and eat healthy.
Eight Heart-Healthy Diet Tips: 1. Control your portion size.
2. Eat more vegetables and fruits. 3. Select Whole Grains
4. Limit unhealthy fats. 5. Choose low-fat protein source. 6. Reduce sodium in your food.
