This guide helps you get started with the Fingertip 30-day trial.
You don’t need to have an existing Salesforce environment to get started with Fingertip. The Fingertip trial creates a new Salesforce environment for you.
If you have an existing Salesforce environment, you can install Fingertip directly there by installing it from Salesforce AppExchange.
If you have currently waiting for your Trial credentials and just want to continue with the instructions, jump to here.

The easiest way to get access to Fingertip starts from: http://www.fingertip.org/trial or click Get Started from the main site. Once you are there:
• Enter your details. The email will be used to send you the login credentials so be sure to use a valid email.
• Press SUBMIT.2

You will receive your login credentials shortly in the email address you provided.
Check your email. You will first receive a welcome message from our founder Jaakko Pellosniemi and later the login credentials from [email protected].

You will receive a email like shown on the left from [email protected]. It contains your Username to the organization and a link for logging in.
After you click the link you will need to set your password.

First off you need to set yourself a password. Follow the instructions on the page and press Change Password.
That’s it! Welcome to Fingertip!

Start by going into AppExchange:https://appexchange.salesforce.com/
Then follow these steps to install Fingertip:
• Search for Fingertip. Select the Fingertip App from the list to navigate to the page shown on the left.
• Press the green ”Get It Now” button

Now you can choose to either login with your Salesforce credentials (you have to be admin in the organization) or continue as a guest. Select option A to install as a guest.
• If you don’t have a Salesforce org or login yet, select I don’t have a login and follow the instructions to install as a standalone trial. You will need to create a Salesforce user account.
• Select Log in to the AppExchange if you want to install Fingertip to your current Salesforce organization or if you happen to have the Salesforce credentials already.

Once you have logged in you can select where to install the package. If you are using a Sandbox org for testing you should install there first. The process is the same, so for demonstration purposes we will continue with option A, Install in Production.
• Select Install in Production to install in an existing Salesforce org.
• You can select Install in Sandbox if you want to test the Fingertip app in a copy environment before deploying it to production. Read more about installing Fingertip in Sandboxes here.
• Select Install in Trial, if you want to take a standalone trial. Follow the instructions in Trial guide.

• Select I don’t have a login to take a standalone trial.
• You can select Log in to the AppExchange if you want to install Fingertip to an existing Salesforce organization (also for sandboxes). The process is explained in the Installing the Fingertip App section of the guide.

Here you need to fill a form to enter your user details.
• Enter your details. The email will be used to send you the Welcome message with the credentials so be sure to use a valid email. The Username should be in form of an email, for example [email protected].
• After you are done, press Start Free Trial.

Step by step example: Creating a meeting agenda 32
This example will go through building a Meeting agenda with Fingertip Plan, step by step. The plan will contain a decision, a task, process and timings for each item.
Learning to build a simple meeting agenda takes about 10 minutes of your time.
Time required:
Start from the home page 33
Press New to create a plan. Plan will be used as the base for building the agenda.
Create your first meeting plan 34
Write a descriptive Title for your meeting plan. Think about searchability: is this name unique enough so you can find it later?
Select Meeting as the process. Process can be used to track the status of your plan.
Write a Description for the meeting (optional).
Select the Start and End date. When does your meeting start? When should it finish?

1. Scroll down.
2. Add the users who should attend the meeting under the Responsible section.
Click on the user icon and search for a user, then click on that user to add.
3. Click Save to share the plan.

Nice! You have created your first plan. Here you can see the main details and you process status.

Select a nice color and write “To be decided” as the subject.

Nice job! You have added a Section to your meeting plan. Sections are simple dividers that can be user to categorize you plan items.
Next, lets add some content.Click on Add Item.

2. Search for an item called “Changing to Digital Decision Making with Fingertip” and click on it to add it below.
If you add an item by mistake click here to remove it.
3. Once you have added the decision above, click Add Items.

Click on Overview on the left to change the list view. Select Meeting.

Easily editable start and end time for rapidly changing schedules. State the duration for each
agenda item and get the calculated starting time.
The accountable user, due date and the current status are all important information to be visible in the meeting.

Estimate here how long you want to discuss the item, and the time automatically updates.
Once you have the meeting you can update the phase to Meeting.
Afterwards, approve the meeting minutes using an approval in Approving phase.

Before you start, make sure that you are using the latest version of either Chrome or Firefox. We are sorry to inform that Internet Explorer is not supported.
Open the message titled “Fingertip Login Information” you have received from [email protected].
Click on the log in link.
Log in to the email address you have provided and open your inbox. Create your new password for Fingertip and add
an answer to a Security Question.

Fingertip supports Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms. We recommend using a device bought in the near future. Windows Phones are not supported.
Install the free Salesforce App from either Google Play or Apple AppStore, depending on your mobile
device.
Open the App you installed.
Log in with your smartphone or tablet in the Salesforce app using your Fingertip credentials.
The login credentials are the same as on
desktop.

When logging in to a Salesforce platform with a new device, you will be prompted for a five-number security code to protect your identity. The
code can be sent to you either by Email or SMS. Enter the code and you can now log into Salesforce.

The trend shows the direction the item is going towards. With trend you can visually indicate the direction of it’s status, whether it is moving in a good direction, stable, or the item is failing and needs more work.
You can tag records in five different Trend statuses:- Strong Growth- Growth- Steady- Decline- Strong Decline
Trend indicator is available for Decisions, Plans and Tasks by default, but the component can be added to other objects as well.
The progress indicator, also known as the traffic light, can be used to show a certain item is progressing in the current stage. Highlight records with Progress indicator to give fast feedback to other users visually.
You can tag records in five different Progress statuses:- Good- Minor Challenges- Critical- Completed- Completed with Problems
Progress indicator is available for Decisions, Plans and Tasks by default, but the component can be added to other objects as well.

Now that you have your environment ready, you should start inviting users.
As an Admin, you have the right to manage the licenses ofFingertip users.
To add a new user:
• Click ‘Manage Users’ on the main navigation

Now you are in the Manage Users tab. On this page:
• Click to ‘+ Add User’ on the top right corner of your screen.

On the Add New User pop up:
• Enter the name and email of your new user.
• Enter the username in email format. This is used as the login credential. It is unique across Salesforce, so if you already have a Salesforce credential, you cannot use the same username.
• Click Save to send the new credentials to the Email entered.
For each new user, repeat the process.

If you don’t want to send the credentials instantly but you’d rather send them later, uncheck this box.
The user level field is optional. For a beginner, you should use the Fingertip Entry level. Read more here.

In the Manage Users screen:
• Click on the name of the user that you want to remove.

• Unmark the ‘Active’ box
• Once this is done, click ‘Save’

On the Global Search bar:
• Type the name of the user that you want to edit
• Click on the username.

This public user page is visible for all users. You can add your photo and public details here.
For more advanced user settings you need to go to the setup.
On the user profile screen:
• Press ’Edit’ to change your public details.
• Click ‘User Details’ to go to user settings in Setup.

This interface is the same in both Classic & Lightning. In the New Group page you should:
• Name the group.
• Find the Users you want to add to the Group.
• Select the users you want to add and click the Add arrow to move them to Selected Members.
• When all the members you want to add are in the Selected Members section,click Save.

How can I test if the installation has succeeded?
To confirm that the installation has completed successfully, you should run a round of simple tests:
1. Create users and see if they can access content
2. Make a decision and share it with people
3. See if you can move the Decision phase
4. Create a plan and add items to it

What are the most common pitfalls and mistakes I can make?
Remember to run Post Installation! Without running the post installation tool Fingertip will not work properly.
Can I rerun the installation process or do I have to delete something?
You can run the Post Installation tool (Configure Fingertip) again without deleting anything. In some cases you can also rerun the installation process but it is not recommended.
How can check what Fingertip version our organization is running?
You can see the version number from Setup => Installed Packages => Fingertip
How do I update my Fingertip installation?
We will provide updates for your organization automatically. If additional steps need to be taken (you are running a really old version) contact Fingertip support.
