Dear Friends,
Jesus bids us to consider our treasure. He says, “For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also.” This time of year most of us
are thinking of our monetary resources. IRS deadlines force us into
considering if we are ahead or behind last year. Where did it all go?
We have treasures in family and friends and even pets. God values
companionship and gives us opportunities to be companions to others,
rather than grasping all our free time for ourselves.
God gifts each of us with one or more spiritual gifts in baptism.
These are not the same as talents although they may be related.
Spiritual gifts are those gifts we are given to build up Christ’s church.
Not everyone is called to be a leader or teacher or musician. Some of us
are gifted to cook or serve or clean up. Some of us have gifts for
hospitality or making phone calls. Some of us are gifted to work with
children or the sick. These gifts are part of our treasure as surely as our
time and money.
Take stock of your gifts as you take stock of your relationship to
Christ during this Lenten season. As we work to draw closer to God we
need to make sure our treasure is not hindering us by pulling us toward
the worship of it. Prayerfully consider what you have been given and how
it can be used for others. Where our treasure is, that is where our hearts
will be.
In Christ,
Pastor Jane
Tuesday Bible Gatherings at Faith Lutheran Church
The Tuesday group started by reading the Bible aloud. Now that
they have read through the entire Bible, they are using a video series
called “Reading Biblical Literature: Genesis to Revelation” to see the
over-arching story. Here are the topics to be covered:
3/6 Jesus as Messiah in Mark
3/13 Mark on the Crucifixion and Resurrection
3/20 The Dynamics of Forgiveness in Matthew
3/27 Luke on a World Upside Down
4/3 John on the Word Made Flesh
They meet every Tuesday at 9:30 AM for an hour.
Everyone is welcome.

March brings Spring Forward for Outreach
Music Ministry Update
A BLESSED SEASON TO ALL!
Did you give up anything for Lent? I per-
sonally have cut down on my food intake (lots of
delicious soups!) and am saving Eucharist until
Holy Week and Eastertide (due to the widespread
flu). Much is made about giving up something,
but have you thought of possibly adopting a prac-
tice for the season? As we enter our worship
space, which has been pared down of the silver,
gold and colorful trappings for this penitent sea-
son, let us take in the sights and sounds of wor-
ship in a reverent and not so boisterous a man-
ner. You will notice that the sounds of the organ
have also been cut back and that anthems and
service music are of a more contemplative nature.
I encourage us all to remember that our time to-
gether each week begins with the Prelude, the
beginning of worship. Listen each week and let
the presence of the Holy Spirit fill you as you pre-
pare for the service to follow, the subdued tones
of the organ washing over you - or in more festive
seasons to come, the power, joy and majesty of
the instrument!
I’ve had several of my secular friends kind
of poke fun at the fact that Easter Sunday this
year occurs on April 1st – April Fool’s Day. This
playful time has been around since at least the
time of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (late 14th cen-
tury). But two thousand years ago, OUR LORD
played the greatest prank on all of the nay-
sayers…He burst from His stone tomb three days
later! Be with us to sing, pray and rejoice on this
blessed Resurrection Day 2018 here at Trinity
Episcopal Church when we all get to witness to
the world HE IS RISEN. Got ‘ya!
See and hear you all in church this and
every week.

Spring Forward for Outreach committee
will be will be hosting the Potluck Parish Break-
fast on Sunday, March 4. They will also host cof-
fee hour on our regular spring forward on the
11th of March. While they will not be seeking
monetary pledges at this time, they will share
what they do and what you can do to be a part of
this important Trinity ministry.
It is important to understand that Out-
reach is more than money, it is people helping
people. Please pray and think about how your
time and talent might make a difference in
someone’s life.
Remember, our Outreach
Committee continues to sell Cook-

First, I would like to thank everyone involved in making the
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper a success. We served over 50 people,
all of whom got to enjoy pancakes prepared by Master Pancake Chefs
David Hinton and Richard Rue.
I want to clear up any confusion created by the re-
cent “Supplemental Pledge Drive” mailing you recently received. Our
goal is to call a full-time rector, not a part-time rector. Pastor Jane will
bless the pledge cards during the March 4 service. . If you have not al-
ready done so, please take one of the following actions regarding the pledge card you received in this
mailing:
If you submitted a pledge card for 2018, please consider increasing your pledge. If you decide to in-
crease your giving, complete a new pledge card and send it to the church office.
If you regularly submit an annual pledge card but have not yet done so for 2018, you can take action
now by using the enclosed card. Please consider an increase over your 2017 pledge amount.
If you are a regular giver to Trinity Church but do not usually submit a pledge card, please do
so. Prayerfully consider an increase in the amount you are giving.
If you are unable to change your financial contribution, please complete the information on the
pledge card and write “No Change.” This will allow us
to know that we have reached you.
If you did not receive a letter and pledge card,
please contact the Church Office and Sheri will send it
right out!
We had an excellent Vestry meeting on February
15. I am impressed with how well this group works to-
gether. I am especially excited over the dedication and
enthusiasm of the younger Vestry members. As
an example, Lori Byers has formed a “Children’s Ministry
Committee” whose purpose is to create more activities for
our children.
On June 10, Bishop William Gafkjen of the Luther-
an Indiana-Kentucky Synod will be our celebrant for Holy
Eucharist. Our own Bishop White will also visit us later
this year. In early March, several Vestry members will
attend “Active Shooter Preparedness” training presented
by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. Also in early
March, the Vestry will meet with the Faith Lutheran
Council for our quarterly review to evaluate how sharing
Pastor Jane is working out for both churches.

The search committee
is excited to announce that we
have completed our work on
the parish profile and portfo-
lio narrative questions. These
items are both required by the
Episcopal Church when a par-
ish is searching for a new rec-
tor. The parish profile is a graphic/visual represen-
tation of our congregation’s life. It also includes
information about Owensboro and the surrounding
community. Basically, it is an “everything you al-
ways wanted to know about Trinity Church Ow-
ensboro” online brochure. Thanks so much to Barb
Tipmore for her untiring work on this. And thanks
to Janet Estes for the many photos and narrative
that Barb was able to pull from the church’s web-
site.
The portfolio narrative questions are 12
questions we were asked to answer. We had to
limit our answers to 1200 characters. At first the
questions seemed overwhelming, but as we talked
as a group, and shared our memories and reflec-
tions, we developed answers we hope will attract
the person God has in mind for our parish.
The profile and portfolio have now been
sent to Amy Coultas, the transitions officer for
the diocese. She will post these to the Episcopal
Church database and the nomination period will
open. We anticipate the nomination period to last
one month. During that time, the committee will
begin looking at the applicants and contacting
others we know in the Episcopal network to get
the word out about our vacancy. We hope to begin
interviews in a few weeks.
Thanks so much for your patience and es-
pecially for your prayers. We have truly felt the
presence of the Holy Spirit at work in our midst.
