Troubleshooting Guide
No sound is heard when using the HDMI
connection from the Blu-ray Disc player.
Check the settings of HDMI Audio Output in System Settings.
When HDMI Audio Output is set to HDMI2, check the connection of the HDMI OUT 2 jack on the Blu-ray Disc player and make sure that the connected device is turned on.
To output sound from a TV, connect the TV to the HDMI OUT 1 jack of the Blu-ray Disc player and change the HDMI Audio Output setting to Auto or HDMI1.
NOTE:
The HDMI OUT 2 jack on the Blu-ray Disc player outputs audio only. When you want to output both video and audio from the device that is connected to the Blu-ray Disc player, connect the device to the HDMI OUT 1 jack on the Blu-day Disc player.
What is the supported maximum and
minimum size USB storage device that is
supported by the Blu-ray Disc player?
The Blu-ray Disc player can support the following sizes of USB HDDs, USB memories, and file
systems.
NOTE:
In the case of multiple partitions, only the first partition can be used. Any subsequent partitions cannot be accessed.
We recommend that you use a Sony external USB HDD or USB memory. The Blu-ray Disc player is intended to work with third-party products, but operation is not

Refer to the following questions and answers.
Video Audio Playback
Video
Q1: What is the highest resolution that can be output from HDMI (HDMI1, HDMI2)?
A1: 4K 24P/60P from HDMI1 only.
Q2: How to output the optimum resolution.
A2: To output the optimum resolution, set Output Video Resolution to Auto on the Blu-ray
Disc Player.
Follow the steps below:
1. Press the HOME button on the remote. 2. Select Setup. 3. Select Output Video Resolution in the Screen Settings category. 4. Select Auto.
Q3: Can HDMI (HDMI1, HDMI2) output to 2 unidentical TVs?
A3: Yes. It can be connected using HDMI cables either through an amp or directly to a TV. (The
exception is 4K TVs, which only can be connected via HDMI1.)
Q4: Can both HDMI (HDMI1, HDMI2) output the same resolution?
A4: This depends on the specifications of your TV. Once you set the resolution output, the Blu-
ray Disc Player will determine the highest common resolution that each TV can support.
Q5: When connecting to the TV via an amplifier, there is no picture on the TV screen.
A5: If the connected amp or TV is not compatible with 4K, there is no picture on the TV screen
when Output Video Resolution in Screen Settings of the Blu-ray Disc Player is set to 4K.
In this case, try the following:
If the TV is not compatible with 4K: Set Output Video Resolution in Screen Settings to Auto.
If the amp is not compatible with 4K: Set Output Video Resolution in Screen Settings to Auto, or connect the Blu-ray Disc Player directly to the TV with an HDMI cable.
Audio
Q6: Will there be a difference in audio output format depending on whether the Blu-ray Disc
Player is connected to the TV through an amplifier or without amplifier?
A6: This depends on your TV and without amplifier settings. The highest available format will
be selected.
Q7: Does Hi-Res sound apply for HDMI audio? (except UBP-X700 and UBP-UX70)
A7: Yes, it supports Hi-Res sound.
Q8: What are the supported audio formats for HDMI Hi-Res audio? (except UBP-X700 and
UBP-UX70)
A8: The following formats are compatible:
DSD (DSF and DFF) FLAC ALAC AIFF WAV
Playback
Q9: Why did resume playback take around 4-6s before the picture appeared?
A9: Because the transition process of output resolution takes time until the picture is normally
output to the connected device.
Q10: Can I change output from the amplifier speakers to the TV speakers during playback?
A10: In the amplifier setting, choose TV output for audio, rather than the amplifier.
Q11: Can this Blu-ray Disc Player play a 4K UHD disc? (For UHP-H1)
A11: This Blu-ray Disc player currently does not support 4K UHD or 4K native video format.
