- LD and international arbitrage
- Class 5 switch services
Mostly proprietary, works in one single network only (SIP to interconnect)
User still get only an analog phone, or its equivalent
No integration with other IP services, user sees no IP!
Stiff competition from mobile phones and IP communications
Significant equipment sales by manufacturers
Less lucrative for service providers (oversupply of commodity telephony)
