TOTAL FINAL CONSUMPTION201551 Mtoe

The households are the largest final consumers of natural gas in Ukraine.

Oil is mostly consumed in transport.

Industries are the main final consumers of coal.

Coal has a small share in final energy consumption. This is because most of the coal consumed in Ukraine is transformed into electricity and heat before it reaches final consumers.

ENERGY CONSUMPTION

This is equivalent to 21% of Japan’s energy consumption. Ukraine is one of the largest energy consuming countries in the

world (26th in 2015)

Mtoe

Ukraine is a large producer of nuclear energy. It also produces all fossil fuels (natural gas, coal, crude oil), but in insufficient quantities to meet the country needs. Including nuclear energy, Ukraine’s domestic energy production covers 70% of its energy demand.

Ukraine depends on imports for around 75% of its oil consumption, 40% of its natural gas and 35% of its coal.75
