UNIVERSAL HYDRAULIC WINCH INSTALLATION

1. Lower auger completely and remove the hand winch.

2. Attach the hydraulic winch to the winch mount using existing hardware if possible.

Westfield TF Augers only: The hydraulic winch uses a different set of holes than the manual winch, see Figure 1. Thehydraulic winch drum will be centered on frame when installed properly.

All other Augers: Replace hand winch with hydraulic winch and line up so cable indexes properly. Use existing hardware if possible.

3. Remove cable from hand winch. Install onto hydraulic winch. The cable must be wound on the top side of the winch drum (Figure 2 and 3).

Hydraulic SafetyAlways place all tractor hydraulic controls in neutral before disconnecting from tractor or working on hydraulic system.Make sure that all components in the hydraulic system are kept in good condition and are clean.Replace any worn, cut, abraded, flattened, or crimped hoses.Do not attempt any makeshift repairs to the hydraulic fittings or hoses by using tape, clamps, or cements. The hydraulic system operates under extremely high-pressure. Such repairs will fail suddenly and create a hazardous and unsafe condition.Wear proper hand and eye protection when searching for a high-pressure hydraulic leak. Use a piece of wood or cardboard as a backstop instead of hands to isolate and identify a leak.If injured by a concentrated high-pressure stream of hydraulic fluid, seek medical attention immediately. Serious infection or toxic reaction can develop from hydraulic fluid piercing the skin surface.

4. Tighten all hardware.5. Connect hydraulic winch hoses to the tractor or

complete the hydraulic installation as shown in your self-propelled auger kit manual.

6. Once hydraulic system is completed, start the system and slowly activate the hydraulic winch valve to take up the excess cable.

7. Check the alignment of the winch by watching the cable wrapping on the drum as the auger is raised. Proper alignment is achieved when the cable indexes properly filling each row on the drum evenly and not piling up against one side.

8. If the cable does not index properly, lower the auger fully until there is slack in the cable. Loosen the bolts on the winch. Adjust the winch, retighten nuts, and retest.

WARNINGFalling auger hazard.

To prevent serious injury or death while winching, ensure cable is fed onto the winch drum as described, and replace cable if frayed or damaged.
