    Introduction

The over-all purpose of creativity is to change ideas or produce

additional new ones. This Report has been put together for you asan idea creator... more than anything else; you will find in it simplecreative ideas, some of which have lead to great discoveries andadvancements.

Short stories and ideas from well-known names and also fromsome not so well-known ones...

We want you to try and put yourself in the persons shoes. Whatwould it have been like for them, when they first had this creativeidea and what would it have been like for them persevering andnot giving up until the completion of their creation?

We can all develop creative behaviour... it is effective andreinforces high self-esteem. We can all learn to respond creativelyso long as we are prepared to risk changing our thoughts.

All you have to do is to learn the skills of good communication.

These include; learning to use your imagination... learning tolisten... learning to deal with criticism... and learning to giveconstructive feedback.

    Creativity

There is no doubt that creativity is the most important humanresource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress,

and we would be forever repeating the same patterns- Edward de Bono

reativity is used to cover the process, the result and theattitudes of mind involved in generating ideas. If a person

comes up with a great new idea or with a number of alternativeideas, then that person is said to be creative...

    C

When we think of a career which needs a lot of creative thought,

we usually think of painting, writing, acting or advertising...

But in effect... every job calls for a bit of your creative powersevery now and then and it takes surprisingly little time and effortto get started increasing your creativity, which is sure to make youa winner no matter what field of endeavour or career youundertake.

Creativity is behind every new idea, desire and daydream you get -

from something as small as what should I have for launch? Tosomething big like the best way to say Im sorry to a loved one.

It also lies behind every great innovation and advancement - fromthe invention of the wheel, to the creation of the light bulb!

Logic may have eventually worked out the method of rubbing twosticks together to produce smoke, and then make fire... but it wascreative imagination, that first envisioned having the flames of a

fire blazing in the first place.

Creativity is such a natural trait, that we often take it for grantedand rarely notice its presence or its importance in our everydaylives...

Its creativity that allows you to come up with ingenious solutions toyour problems and difficulties; it also gives you the ability tobrainstorm new ideas to help you achieve any goals you like

    whatever they may be.

Every creation made by a person, every tool, every instrument, every utensil, every book, article, song, game, film etc... evolvedfrom very simple beginnings along the line of experimentation andcreative imagination.

Everything made by people is put together, made up of materialparts; and the idea of every such thing is made up of simpler andmore elemental ideas, united and combined in creativeimagination.

This is the only way in which we have ever invented or createdanything; and this is always the way in which you must proceed inyou work of creative imagination.

This one truth is so simple that most people entirely overlook it...you may never have thought about it in this way, until you nowhave it presented to you in this Special Report!

How Can You BecomeA Creative Genius

It is the child in us that is the source of our uniquenessand creativeness, and the playground is the optimalmilieu for the unfolding of our capacities and talents

    - Eric Hoffer

he first factor that cuts most of us off from our creative side issimply growing up...T

You have only to look at childrens drawings, paintings and stories

to see that creativity develops quickly in early childhood.

But tests have shown that most of us have lost our creative urgeby the age of seven...

Why then dose our creativity disappear by the age of just seven?

Well this loss of creativeness is not very surprising according toProfessor Mark Runco, founder of theCreativity Research Journal.

Apparently, it takes only about a year in the educational system todiscourage children (and the adults they later become) fromrelating to their creative sides. The professor then goes on to say,

We put children in groups and make them sit indesks and raise their hands before they talk. Weput all the emphasis on conformity and order, thenwe wonder why they arent being spontaneousand creative

Is it any wonder then creativity, of all the abilities we possess - isthe one in which most people rank themselves especially low in.

This is not unexpected, because as we have realized from theabove, creative thinking is generally left out of education... anyactivity which involves imagination, colour, rhythm, or form hasbeen traditionally frowned upon as less intelligent.

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    8/32

Luckily we have more information with which to work with - andcreativity can now be seen as a necessary part of a well balancededucation and personality.

A second factor that hampers our creativeness is that we assumeand even believe that creative people must have some specialability or have enormous IQs, and since we think our ability andIQs arent all that high, we then go on to further assume - that wecant be all that creative.

But its really quite the opposite...

You see highly successful painters, singers, writers, scientists and

other creative types of people are no smarter than anyone else.

We all posses a creative side its just a question of how wedevelop this creative side of us, and also how we desire to use it.

The whole idea of freeing the creative spirit isreclaiming the power that each person has had

from birth. It's a birthright to be a creative person

    What Is Creative Dreaming?

n our analysis of the process of thinking we have found that

much of our thinking is conscious, purposeful, and logical. Wegrasp a problem, concentrate on it, collect evidence and drawconclusions.

    I

We also find that there are times when we, can hardly be said tohave drawn the conclusions; but instead we somehow arrive atthem, or they occur to us.

Sometimes when we are not even consciously occupied with theproblem at hand our thinking has still been going on atsubconscious levels.

When our problem is one that is very important to us, or one thatcalls for originality, some of our thinking is likely to be of thesubconscious kind.

Take for example - Albert Einstein, this renowned physicist andmathematician, did not get his ideas from only the mathematicalpart of his brain he creatively imagined many of the laws of the

universe beforehand. Only then was he able to apply hismathematical ability to that initial creative image.

Einstein described in his diary how the basis of his Special Theoryof Relativity came to him, as did the groundbreaking creativeinsights of many other scientists, when he fell into a reverie or adaydream during a lengthy car journey

Mozart also wrote - that the ideas for his most greatest work

    and music seemed to come to him while;

traveling in a carriage, after a good meal,or during the night when I cannot sleep

The vision which inspired the Sistine Chapel came to Michelangeloonly after - being outraged with his first attempts, he scraped hisearly work on the chapel and went out for a stroll in the country.

Or the story of the 19th-century German physicist Kekule who

finally discovered the mystery of how molecules connected to one

    10/32

    another after a daydream about a snake lying in a circle with itstail in its mouth he explained that after a nice dinner he turnedhis chair to the fire, relaxed and;

The atoms were right before my eyes, long rows, all twining and twisting in a snakelike motion - oneof the snakes had seized hold of its own tail andwas whirled mockingly before my eyes

Its no secret that many of the worlds most famous scientific andartistic achievements came in the form of daydreams - but peoplehave also been known to solve their problems even during sleep.

It is said that the inventor of the sewing machine, dreamed the

solution to his problem of modifying an ordinary sewing needle tofit the conditions imposed by his machine

And after much unsuccessful experimentation, he dreamed onenight that he was being threatened by a lost tribe who werebrandishing spears, and strange to say - a thread of sinew ranthrough the blade of each spear.

Here in the image of the spear, was the much-sought-after clue he

had been looking for put the eye of the machine needle in thepoint instead of at the other end he thought.

For Thomas Edison, the idea for the first successful light bulbcame, after thousands of failures, and in the midst of one of hislegendary naps

Robert Louis Stevenson credited a dream he once had, with theinspiration for his world famous story Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

It should be noted, however, that this dream like activity is only apart of the whole process of solving a problem!

The process of creative thinking in any field ofhuman endeavor often starts with what may becalled a "rational vision," itself a result of previousstudy, thinking, and observation

    - Erich Fromm

Without previous concentration the inventor or creator wouldprobably not have had so vivid a dream and neither would they

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    11/32

have grasped so surely the meaning of the dream or image theyhad seen.

You may have even had it happen to you before? Almost everyone

can recall moments when ideas or insights have automaticallyburst into their mind from somewhere, moments when you graspthe solution to a troublesome problem, suddenly have a newperspective that opens up new possibilities, or are struck with acreative inspiration.

So you see your success was not so much a matter of merechance or simply luck, as it first might have appeared to be

How To Get That Creative Urge

he first computers in the early fifties were operated by typing inlong sequences of command numbers and letters, and

computer experts and designers got used to it being that way.T

So when it came time to design the home computer, they fell backon the familiar way of operating it - typing in long commands.

The result of this was the near failure of the home computer.

It was only when Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple Computers brokeaway from the familiar responses and assumptions that he realized

the computer could be made to type its own commands; all theuser should have to do is click a little icon on the screen to startthe process.

Steves assumption was right and this helped to ignite Apple andthe personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II andreinvention of the personal computer in the 1980s with theMacintosh.

Apple Computers is one long story of creative inspirationsbeginning with the user-friendly graphics and icons, and continuingwith the astounding success of the cheerful and colorful IMAC.

Apple also seems to be leading the digital music revolution with itslatest creative development iPod portable music players, andiTunes online music store

One day a daring young man left Harvard University In his junior

year; to devote his energies to a small company he had begun in1975 with one of his childhood friends called Paul Allen.

The two were guided by one simple-creative-belief... and thatbelief was...

That the computer would be a valuable toolon every office desktop and in every home

They quickly began to develop software for personal computers

and ended up changing the computer industry, by starting a

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    13/32

revolution which has changed the way we live, work andcommunicate forever.

His name was William (Bill) H. Gates - and the small company he

    had begun was called Microsoft

Today he is the chairman and chief software architect of MicrosoftCorporation, the worldwide leader in software, services andsolutions that have helped millions of people and businessesworldwide.

In just 24 years Gates had turned Microsoft into a great successstory with revenues of US$36.84 billion for the fiscal year endingJune 2004, and now employs more than 55,000 people in 85

    countries and regions.

Not only this but just this one idea alone has literally turned Mr.Gates, into one of the richest men in the world today!

Michael S. Dell started a computer business out of his dorm roomin 1984 with nothing more than $1,000 and a creative idea... as hesays:

"I realised that the computer market was veryinefficient. The mark-ups were incredibly highover the cost of materials and the service wasvery poor."

Dell Computer is today the largest personal computer company inthe world - Michael Dell stepped down as CEO in 2004 - with a networth in the $16 billion range, and he is only in his early 40s.

As you can see, original creative ideas are so fundamental to

success you cant afford the lack of them to stand in your way anylonger

And its not just the history of the technological age where we cansee great examples of this

Creativeness often consists of merely turning upwhat is already there. Did you know that rightand left shoes were thought up only a little morethan a century ago?

    - Bernice Fitz-Gibbon

The brewing, serving, and drinking of tea, has existed since 2000B.C but it wasnt until around 1908 when Thomas Sullivan a teaand coffee merchant in New York, began packaging tea samplesin tiny silk bags - many of his customers brewed their tea in the

bags rather than in the traditional way of brewing loose tea in ateapot, and the tea bag was born.

Bread was first baked over 4,500 years ago meat has beenaround even longer, but it still took another forty-three hundredyears before the 4th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu came upwith the creative idea that made the Sandwich.

The story goes; he was too involved in a card game to have a

formal meal, so he instructed his cook to put some meat betweentwo slices of bread to save him time. He named the snack afterhimself.

The modern flush toilet was invented in 1775, but it wasnt untilover 80 years later that Joseph Gayetty, had the creative ideaswhich lead to the creation of toilet paper. Before Gayetty'sinvention, people tore pages out of mail order catalogs - beforecatalogs were common, leaves were used

Although blinking lights have been around for more than fivedecades, it wasnt until the 1940s that anyone thought of puttingthem on the back of cars.

Until then everyone went around indicating a turn with handsignals, or by pulling a lever to activate a mechanical arm whichpointed straight out for left or straight up for right.

Unable to pay for college, Thomas Monaghan bought a single

pizza place in 1960 in Ypsilanti, Michigan

Thomas noted that people were often willing to drive several miles, for take-away Chinese food and Pizza on Friday and Saturdaynights he came up with the creative idea of a restaurant thatdelivers its food to the customers. The result of this was?

He turned his single pizza shop into the Domino's Pizza Empire -now with more than 7,000 locations and some $4 billion in annual

    sales. And as Thomas Monaghan says;

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    15/32

Delivery at the time was pretty minimal, so I decidedto focus on that, and it was the best thing I've done.Nobody thought you could make money on delivery. Most places just delivered to get some volume beforethey could afford to cut out the delivery. But I thought

I could do it. It was a challenge. I just had to figure out how

A retired southerner named Harlan Sanders seen that pizza andother restaurants were becoming very popular and got the creativeidea that a restaurant specializing in the kind of good oldfashioned, finger lickin fried chicken grandmother used to makemight attract customers also.

The result was: Col. Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken was born!

    (Also known as KFC)

Today more than a billion of the Colonel's "finger lickin good"chicken dinners are served annually. And not just in America. TheColonel's cooking is available in more than 80 countries andterritories around the world.

An endless number of these creative ideas and unmadeconnections still exist to this day - you are literally surrounded by

simple, obvious solutions that can dramatically increase yourincome, power, influence, and success

The only real problem is, simply learning how to see them, andthen using them.

Your Creative ImaginationImagination is more important than knowledge. For whileknowledge defines all we currently know and understand,

imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.

    - Albert Einstein

ur knowledge is limited we can never know everything butyour imagination changers the world, by stimulating progress

and giving birth to evolution and new ideasO

What is true imagination, but a belief in the impossible and whatis that but a launching site for creativity?

Imagination is perhaps the most glamorous and definitely the mostvital of the creative factors and awaking your imagination can beone of the most enjoyable and rewarding exercises in developingyour creative faculties.

The 1 Simple Rule of Imagination

In order to exercise and expand your imagination, you must followone simple rule and this rule is: Never Suppress Your Curiosity

It really is this simple as most psychologists say, that there is aclose relationship between your curiosity and imagination.

And since solutions in one field or line of work are often suggestedand found by techniques used in another - curiosity about any fieldor line of work outside of your own, should be welcomed andgratified by finding out all about it.

The Wright brothers were not aerospace engineers but bicyclemechanics - and yet they went on to invent the first ever airplane.

How did these two men, Wilbur and Orville Wright, workingessentially alone and with little formal scientific training, solve aproblem as complex and demanding as heavier-than-air flight, which had defied better-known experts for centuries?

On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the Wright

Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    17/32

achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. It flew adistance of 37m for 12 seconds.

These two small town businessmen had invented a technology

that would define the 20th century and they used the power ofcreative-imagination to do it!

From the time we were little children my brotherOrville and myself lived together. We usually ownedall of our toys in the common, talked over our thoughtsand aspirations so that nearly everything that was donein our lives has been the result of conversations, suggestions and discussion between us

    - Wilbur Wright, 1912

    How they used Creative Discussions;

I like scrapping with Orville, Wilbur said.Hes such a good scrapper

Heated discussions were a frequent and significant aspect of theWrights creative process. Their ability to defend a position withgenuine passion, while considering the others point of view, was

    essential to their inventive success

It wasnt an engineer or a mechanic that created the first gasoline-powered tractor in 1892, but a blacksmith from Iowa named JohnFroehlich.

Albert Einstein, properly speaking, was not a physicist but amathematician. Yet his findings and discoverys in mathematicscompletely turned upside down all the pet theories in physics.

Consider the creative experience of a shopkeeper from Dayton,Ohio called Jacob Ritty.

One day while on a transatlantic voyage, Ritty was fascinated withthe device that recorded the propeller revolutions of the shipEventually, Ritty Imagined the same principle could be used toregister the amount of money rung up in the shopkeepers till.

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    18/32

The result was the cash register - which even today is still beingput to great use in every store, shop and business right across theworld.

Some people sneered at Henry Ford, as having had only onegoodidea in all his life yes, but this was a big creative idea,

How to make cars cheap enough for the millions

And Henry Ford soon realized his dream of producing anautomobile that was reasonably priced, reliable, and efficient - withthe introduction of the Model T in 1908.

Fords Model T initiated a new era in personal transportation. It

was easy to operate, maintain, and handle on rough roads, immediately becoming a huge success.

This one creative idea, not only made Mr. Ford a very wealthy andsuccessful man but by 1918, (just 10 years after Ford firstdeveloped his car) half of all cars in America were Henry FordsModel Ts.

We could probably list a dozen more examples but we are sure

by now, you are starting to see the real powerof what even thesmallest of creative ideas can accomplish for you!

Vision without action is merely a dream.Action without vision just passes the time.Vision with actioncan change the world!

    Creation From Your Mistakes

e should never underestimate the power of our mistakes.

Most of us get annoyed, upset or even worried when wemake a mistake. But a select few creative individuals have chosento not be beaten by any mistakes they happen to make

    W

These creative individuals look at their mistakes as simplystepping stones on their journey towards success.

While the average person is being discouraged and upset by theirmistakes and end up giving up altogether - the creative mind isbeing empowered by them.

    Accidental Creations

In 1905, a boy called Frank Epperson, who was at that time, justeleven years old, mixed powdered soda with water and stirred itwith a stick.

Powdered soda was a popular drink mix in that era. What wasdifferent was that young Frank accidentally left his soda on the

front porch overnight with the stirring stick still in it. Of course, when the temperature dropped overnight, the mixture froze andFrank had a stick of frozen soda water to show his friends atschool.

It wasnt until eighteen years later - Frank remembered the incidentand he applied for, and was granted a patent.

He then started producing what he called 'Epsicles' in seven fruit

flavors. The name never took off, and his family later changed thename to Popsicle. Today over three million 'Popsicles' are soldevery year.

George Crum, a Native American chef came across a creativeaccident in August, 1953. Apparently one of his customersrepeatedly sent his potatoes back to the chef claiming they weren'tthin enough or fried long enough

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    20/32

Crum, becoming extremely annoyed by this and decided to fix theman by slicing the potatoes paper thin and cooking them until theywere so crisp they couldnt be eaten with a fork.

The customer loved them and actually requested more. Thepotato chip was born. (Also know as crisp).

One day an old Arabian man was traveling across the desert, hehad with him a pouch - which was made from sheeps stomach inthose days! Anyway, he poured his milk into it and continued onhis way. Later, he opened the pouch to find, curds and whey.

The constant movement, the hot sun and chemicals from the

sheeps stomach had clumped up the milk into, you guessed it?...Cheese.

In 1928, while researching the flu virus, Alexander Fleming noticedthat one of his culture plates had become contaminated withmould

The mould had developed accidentally on a staphylococcusculture plate and had also created a bacteria-free circle arounditself. Other scientists may have recoiled in horror at this result of

shoddy work practice, but not Alexander. He chose to investigate!

Whatever this mould was, it was killing off the Staphylococcus bug- a bug causing everything from boils to toxic shock syndrome.

With further experiments he found that this mould cultureprevented growth of staphylococci - even when diluted 800 times.

And he decided to name this active substance Penicillin.

The problem was, naturally occurring penicillin isn't very stable andthus not very useful. Fleming had found a wonder drug, butunfortunately couldn't do much with it. Luckily just three years latertwo Oxford researchers created a stable form, and to this daypenicillin is still one of our most important tools in the fight againstdisease.

An accidental discovery announced, has taken LED lighting to a

new level, suggesting it could soon offer a cheaper, longer-lastingalternative to the traditional light bulb.

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    21/32

LEDs are already used in traffic lights, flashlights, and architecturallighting. They are flexible and operate less expensively thantraditional lighting.

Michael Bowers, a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, wasjust trying to make really small quantum dots, which are crystalsgenerally only a few nanometers big.

That's less than 1/1000th the width of a human hair.

When you shine a light on quantum dots or apply electricity tothem, they react by producing their own light, normally a bright, vibrant color but when Bowers shined a laser on his batch ofdots, something much unexpected happened!

    Bowers said;

"I was surprised when a white glow covered thetable, the quantum dots were supposed to emitblue light, but instead they were giving off abeautiful white glow."

Then Bowers and another student got the creative idea to stir thedots into polyurethane and coat a blue LED light bulb with the mix.The lumpy bulb wasn't pretty, but it produced white light similar toa regular light bulb.

This new device gives off a warm, yellowish-white light that shinestwice as bright and lasts 50 times longer than the standard 60 wattlight bulb...

SAS troops recently discovered a new secret weapon againstbooby traps and tripwires... and surprisingly it doesnt come in the

form of some new battle-ready imaging device, but in the form ofsilly string!

America has spent millions developing infa-red and ultra violet hi-tech imaging devices to show up tripwires... the problem has beenthese are both bulky and not robust enough for combat conditions.

However the solution to this has been found by using $2 cans ofsilly stringwhich the SAS buy from Woolworths shopping store.

  • 8/10/2019 Unleash Your Creative Genius

    22/32

They spray the joke substance to expose virtually invisible tripwires in anywhere from caves to darkened buildings they mustenter. The brightly coloured string hangs across the wires, but istoo light to set off explosives.

How did they ever discover this?

The creative idea was born when some one brought along a can ofsilly string with them to a Christmas bash at their HQ. They let thesilly string lose... some landed on fishing line which was holding upthe Christmas decorations.

    And...Bingo the idea was born

It is said to work very well and there is no doubt that aconsiderable number of lives have been saved and others havebeen spared from horrendous maiming.

Did you know Superglue was discovered by accident, too?

Superglue, or Krazy Glue, is actually a substance called'cyanoacrylate'.

Dr. Harry Coover accidentally discovered it twice, the first time in1942, when he was trying to develop an optically clear plastic forgun sights and the second time nine years later, when he wastrying to develop a heat-resistant polymer for jet canopies.

On both occasions his new product proved to be too sticky for thejob, and when he went to report this to his supervisor his thoughtswere not about inventing Superglue, but rather about how toexplain: how he had just stuck together and ruineda $50,000 set

    of lenses.

Finally he realized his sticky glue might have a use and in 1958 itwas marketed as "Superglue".

In fact Superglue turned out to be more than just useful. It savedthe lives of countless soldiers in Vietnam when it was used to sealbattlefield wounds before the injured could be transported to ahospital...

In working towards the achievement of any goal through thecreative imagination, you must first begin to put this and thattogether, along the lines of experimentation, trials, and tests.

You must arrange your creative building-blocks, first in one way,and then in another way. You must proceed with the idea thatsomewhere in these creative building-blocks there is the definitecertainty of a successful combination and its up to you to find it!

    Remember as you persevere

Even in your creative mistakes there often lays hidden secrets ofthe exact combination which you are looking for. You can only

discover your creation by using effort, ideas and experiments - andif you continue to experiment faithfully, intelligently, and creativelyyou will surly discover the solution to the problems at hand.

Discovery consists of looking at the same thingas everyone else and thinking something different

Thomas Edison found this out also. Edison is said to have tried

over 6000 different materials and made some 30,000 experimentalattempts, in a search for the conductive filament that was the heartof his electric light bulb.

For close to 10 years Edison kept persevering with his creativedesire of: powering a light bulb, by using electricity!

Even though each material failed, Edison refused to give up andto a discouraged assistant he cheerfully said Try everything

    even Lim-burger cheese

Harlan Sanders the founder of Col. Sanders Kentucky FriedChicken, was also a master in perseverance one day he set outacross America with a creative dream and that dream was: Tosupply restaurants with his secret chicken recipe

Sanders arrived at the first restaurant and asked them if theywould like to sell his chicken - and the answer was NO. So off hewent, onto the next restaurant, and the owner of this restaurant

    also said NO...

In fact, do you know how many times Sanders was refused beforesomeone actually said; YES - we will sell your chicken for you

    1009 Times!!!

Yes Harlan Sanders received 1009 NOs before someoneactually said YES. Did he get discouraged in any way, by all the

    refusals?

You can bet he did not. This is because he had a creative dream,a vision, a great idea and he simply stuck to it with intention untilhe had persevered. And we must simply learn to do the same.

7 Ways To Realise Your Creative Problem Solv ing

How many times have you caught yourself saying that there couldbe no other solution to a problem and that the problem leads to adead end?

How many times have you felt stumped knowing that the problemlying before you is one you cannot solve...

No leads... No options... No solutions?

Did it feel like you had exhausted all possible options and yet arestill before the mountain - large, unconquerable, and immovable?

When encountering such enormous problems, you may feel likeyou're hammering against a steel mountain. The pressure ofhaving to solve such a problem may also be overwhelming.

But relax... There is still hope yet!

With some simple creative problem-solving techniques, you will beable to look at your problem in a different light. And that light might

just be the end of the tunnel that leads to possible solutions foryou.

First of all, in the light of creative problem-solving, you must beopen-minded to the fact that there may be more than just onesolution to the problem. And, you must be open to the fact that

there may be solutions to problems you thought were unsolvable.

Now, with this optimistic mindset in place, we can try to be a littlebit more creative in solving our problems.

    1. Maybe the reason we cannot solve our problems is that wehave not really taken a hard look at what the problem actually is.Trying to understand the real problem and having a concreteunderstanding of its workings is an important part of solving the

    problem...

If you know how it works, what the problem is, then you have amuch better foundation and starting point towards solving theproblem.

Simply try to identify the problems at hand and what theirrelationships with one another are. Take note of the things youstand to gain and stand to lose from the current problem.

Now you have a simple statement of what the problem really is...

    2. Try to take note of all of the assumptions and beliefs you haveabout the particular problem. Sometimes it is these assumptionsthat obstruct our view of possible solutions. You have to identify

which assumptions and beliefs are valid... and also whichassumptions and beliefs are not valid, and need to be addressed.

    3. You can try to solve the problem by parts. Solve it going froma general view towards the more detailed parts of the problem. This is called the top-down approach. Write down the question, and then come up with a one-sentence solution to that from them. The solution should be a general statement of what will solve theproblem.

From here you can develop the solution further, and increase itscomplexity little by little.

    4. Although it helps to have critical thinking aboard as you solvea problem, you must also keep a creative thinking voice at theback of your head. When someone comes up with a prospectivesolution, try to think how you could make that solution work.

Try to be creative and also at the same time, look for any

weaknesses in the chain of your solution.

    5. It pays to remember that there may be more than just onesolution being developed at any one time. If you can - try and keeptrack of all the solutions and also their developments.

Also keep in mind; there may be more than just one solution tosolving the problem at hand.

    6. Remember the old saying, "Two heads are better than one."Well this saying is as true as it sounds. Always be open to new

ideas. You can only benefit from listening to all the ideas eachperson has to offer. This is especially true when the person you'retalking to has had experience solving problems similar to yours.

You don't have to be a solo hero and solve every problem on yourown. If you can organize collective thought on the subject, it will bemuch better and far more productive for you in the long run!

    7. Be patient. As long as you persevere, there is always achance that a solution to the problem will present itself. No onewas ever able to create an invention or great solution the first timearound.

Creative thinking exercisescan also help you in your quest to bea more creative problems solver.

    Here is an example...

Take a piece of paper and write any word that comes to mind atthe center. Now look at that word then write the first two words thatcome to your mind. This can go on until you have build up a tree ofrelated words. This helps you build a visual image in your mind, and fortify your creative processes.

So, next time you have a problem you think you cannot solve, thinkagain. The solution might be just around the corner or even staringyou right in the face.

All it takes is just a little creative thinking, some planning, and thenAction towards solving it.

We would like to end by giving you the Creation Master Formula

which has been laid down by Robert Collier, in his great workentitled: The Secret of the Ages...

You may create and have anything you want, provided that you

1 Know exactly what you want2 Want it hard enough3 Confidently expect to obtain it4 Persistently determine to obtain it; and

5 Are willing to pay the price of its attainment
