The folded arms shows that the page about Eminem will be of a serious matter. He is also not smiling which suggests something bad may have happened to him and this is further revealed by the line ‘Comes Clean’

Shows the magazine is serious

‘Eminem’ is the main cover story which shows his dominance in the rap industry and this is further backed up by him folding his arms which also shows he may have authority over the other rappers. Target Audience• The target audience for ‘VIBE’ are people aging from 18-34 who have an interest in and listen

to rap music regularly. ‘VIBE’ is currently sold at £4.95 and their annual subscription is £14.95 which is a relatively cheap price so is targeted at a working/middle class audience. Language

• The feature I found is from ‘VIBE’ magazine about rapper ‘Trip Lee’ and his concert on Miami beach. The writing is very formal which is unusual of a rap magazine as rappers sometimes speak in slang. This shows the magazine is addressing its reader as an intelligent fan of rap music. The magazine rights the article like a story to engage the reader and includes an interview with the rapper himself to give the reader a more personal feel towards the magazine. The article uses short sentences which could relate to the short sentences which are regularly used in rap music.

Pull quote – used to get a personal view from who the article is about

Keeping to the colour scheme of the front page of the magazine

Story about Eminem's rise to fame

Eminem’s real name – gives a personal view and an insight into who Eminem really is

The article is telling a story to the reader which shows they are trying to relate to their audience. However the language style is formal which shows VIBE is trying to convey that their magazine is serious.

Makes the reader want to know more about Eminem's life.

Planning

• Style and tone of my magazine- For my magazine I may follow the rap/hip hop magazine style and incorporate ideas from ‘VIBE’ magazine into my own. I will use a serious tone in order to make my magazine look professional. I will aim to use consistent fonts and colours throughout my magazine and try to make them stand out from the background. I believe that my magazine will mostly relate to ‘VIBE’ as it follows the hip hop/rap theme and has stories which I would be likely to use in my magazine. However I may also add in articles about different genre’s of music. I feel this will make more people want to buy my magazine as it will appeal to everyone. My magazine will be predominantly about rap music but I will also try to include stories that everyone wants to read.

Target audience for my magazine• Age Range: 16 – 30• Gender: my magazine will be aimed at boys and girls as I feel that

rap music appeals to both sex’s.• I will sell my magazine at £3.50 as I feel this is a reasonable price for

the people who will buy my magazine. My age range is quite young so therefore they may not be willing to buy a product which costs a lot of money.

• I will aim to appeal to my target market by adding in things which are current to the music industry. I will try to include stories for both girls and boys so all readers of my magazine will be attracted to buy the magazine.

• I will try to add stories and articles that everyone can relate to as I feel this will increase sales of my magazine.
