FEATURES AND BENEFITS

The FM-XHSL, Globetrotter LXL, is a sleeper cab with extra height developed for national or international long haul and distribution transports.

The cab offers a very high level of comfort with ideal driving posi-tion, ergonomically designed seats, low noise level, high capacity climate control system and a world class safety level.

The Globetrotter LXL cab is aerodynamically designed with smooth surfaces and rounded corners in the front. Tailored airflow systems and complete chassis skirts additionally lowers the air resistance.

The interior of the cab has been designed and developed with the focus on the driver. The instrument panel offers a good over-view and is designed to ensure that the driver obtains the right information in every situation. The cab has a modern interior with material that is durable and easy to maintain, and offers good storage space. The driver has good all-round vision through the large windscreen, large rear-view mirrors and a close-quarter mirror on the passenger side. The effective main headlamps provide a concentrated, long-range beam of light.

The cab is crash-tested and has an injury-preventing design made with energy-absorbing materials.

The sections of the cab are manufactured in galvanised sheet metal that provides good basic protection against corrosion.

The entire cab has been given an anti-corrosion treatment and topcoat is applied using a method that provides the highest level of quality and longest service life.

Integrated in the front bumper-carrier is a Front Under-run Protection System (FUPS) to prevent smaller vehicles from being wedged under the front in the event of a collision.

Service points that require the drivers attention are easily ac-cessible behind a hatch at the front of the cab.

Service and repairs of components in the engine compartment are simplified thanks to a generous cab tilt angle of 70°.

Clear instrumentationThe cab’s instruments have a simple and logical design with con-venient and easy to use controls. Driver information is provided via a clear display on the instrument panel. The electrical distribu-tion unit is positioned in a protected location in the middle of the instrument panel together with a variety of electrical components and fuses. The truck has a separate electrical distribution unit for the body, fitted near the passenger’s feet.

Comfortable sleeping areaThe sleeping accommodation is comfortable and suitable for two persons. The lower bed is available with two different thicknesses on the mattress. Two reading lamps, one at each bunk end, are fitted in the cab’s side wall and behind the seats there are two flexible snake lights mounted. The upper bunk is available in two different widths and a safety net is always included for both lower and upper bed. On the side wall (driver side) is also a smoke detector as standard equipment.

Functional interior with good storage facilitiesThe space above the windscreen features two large compartments with rollfront doors and one smaller with a lid at the bottom in the open middle section. Below this area there are six ISO slots, one of which is reserved for the tachograph, and one additional compart-ment with a hatch. Cupholder, penholder, net pocket and space for small items are integrated in the instrument panel. Under the bed there are two large storage compartments that can be accessed from the outside and in the sleeping area there are storage room for magazines. Additional storage facilities are available as options.

Adjustable steering wheel for an ideal driving positionThe angle and height of the steering wheel can be adjusted with a foot pedal on the left side of the steering column. The range of height adjustment is 90 mm and the range of tilt angle is 28°. The steering wheel is available with or without an airbag. Integrated controls in the steering wheel provide safe and comfortable opera-tion of phone and radio functions.

Pleasant working environment with low sound levelThe sound level in the cab is pleasantly low. Well positioned mir-rors provide good all-round visibility. A control panel for operating mirrors and side windows is integrated in the door panel on the driver’s side. The cab has an effective heating and ventilation system with air condition. Temperature-controlled air conditioning is available as an option.

Ergonomically designed seatsThe seats are ergonomically designed and available in various trim levels (with air suspension, ventilation in the seat cushion, heat-ing and so on). Upholstery is available in a choice of vinyl, textile, velour or leather. There is also the option of a microphone and loudspeaker built into the integrated head restraint. A seat with an integrated safety belt is available as an option.

Low and convenient entryEntry into the Volvo FM cab is low, with two anti-slip, illuminated steps made of stainless steel. The steps protrude somewhat so they are visible from inside the cab, making for safer exit. There are sturdy grab-rails on either side in the door opening. To permit more convenient entry, the steering wheel can be tilted out of the way towards the windscreen.
