Week of Sept 12th- Sept 16thWe had another great week in 1H! If you are wanting to place a scholastic order please turn it in by September 28th. At the end of this month we will have our Apple Cooking Day and we will be in need of donations and volunteers. If you are interested keep an eye out for upcoming newsletter for more information.

This week we learned…Word Work/Writing:This week we practiced the memory sort and the blind sort. In writing we read different ABC books and started writing our own ABC book about first grade.Reading: In reading we learned strategies that will help us figure out a word if we don’t know it. The strategies we learned were Lips the Fish, Skippy Frog, Tryin’ Lion, Stretchy Snake, Eagle Eye, Flippy Dolphin, Chunky Monkey, and helpful kangaroo. Have you child tell you about which strategies they use when they read!Math:This week we learned what tallies were. We practiced writing tallies and counting tallies. We also learned how to use our whiteboards during math. We practiced counting things around the room and writing number on our whiteboards.Social Studies/Science: We are now learning about rules and laws in social studies. Together we came up with some rules that we can have in the classroom.
