2) Costcoplanstoopen25newwarehousesnetinthenextfiscalyear.

3) Gymboreehascompletedafinancialrestructuring.

4) YeartodateintheUK,therehavebeen662storeclosureannouncementsfrommajorretailers,significantlyloweronayear-over-yearbasis.The741storeopenings,however,areaslightincreasecomparedto2016.

2017MajorUSStoreOpeningsandClosuresFGRThasadedicatedteamtrackingnewsaboutstoreclosuresandopenings,bankruptciesandmanagementchanges.OurWeeklyStoreOpeningsandClosuresTrackerfocusesondepartmentstoresandspecialtyretail,including,butnotlimitedto,softlines,hardlines,consumerelectronicsandfurniture.

WhatIsHappeningthisWeekintheUS?

CostcoPlanstoOpen25NetNewWarehousesIntheNextFiscalYearCostcoplanstoopen25netnewstoresinthenextfiscalyear,abouttwo-thirdsofwhichwillbelocatedintheUS.Yeartodate,Costcoopened18newunitsnet,mostlyintheUS.

GymboreeCompletesFinancialRestructuringGymboreeannouncedthatithascompleteditsfinancialrestructuringandemergedfromChapter11bankruptcy.Thecompanyhasestablishedamoresustainablecapitalstructurebyeliminatingmorethan$900millionofdebtandright-sizingitsstorefootprint.Aspartoftheplan,Gymboreeisclosing330underperformingstores.

Toys“R”UsCooperateswIthMirakltoLaunchOnlineMarketplaceToys“R”UsannouncedthatitwillcooperatewithMirakl,theglobalmarketplacesolutionsprovider,tosupportthecreationofanewonlinemarketplacebusinessesintheUSandCanada.Theplatformissettolaunchin2018,anditwillenableToys“R”Ustoincreaseitsproductselectionanddecreasetimetomarketfornewproducts.
