During all Masses on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10, we will recognize those who have served in our military. Feel free to invite your loved ones, who have served our country, in any branch, at any time, so we can bless and honor them for their service. We will also display photos of anyone who has served in the military past or present. If you have photos of your loved ones, please send them our way. You will not need to leave the photo with us, we will make a copy right away so you can take the original home. Please send in or submit photos by Wednesday, November 6th. Way to go walkers! We totaled 2,254,823 steps this week which is equal to 1,127 miles. We are still walking on water, almost to Casablanca! Take this opportunity to pick up the weekly reflection and focus on “Beautiful Feet” as you work toward your goal of contributing steps on our journey to Bethlehem, the birthplace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.Don’t forget to turn in your steps by placing the total count in the basket at the back of church or sending them in an email to ccheartandsole@gmail.com. If you missed a week, no worries, you can still turn them in, and they will be added to the group’s total.As we continue our journey over the Atlantic Ocean, let’s consider another form of marine life living in the vast waters below us. The narwhal is a medium-sized toothed whale that lives year-round in the Arctic waters around Greenland, Canada, and Russia. Often dubbed the unicorns of the sea, narwhals are strange and beautiful creatures with long tusks protruding from their heads. Some narwhals have up to two tusks, while others have none. The spiraled tusk juts from the head and can grow as long as 10 feet. The body length averages between 13 to 18 feet in length and they can live up to 50 years. They feed specifically on arctic and polar cod and halibut, shrimp and squid found in Greenland. Narwhals are threatened by walruses, polar bears, killer whales and humans.Así se hacen los caminantes! FROM THE PRIEST:Fr. VinceI wonder sometimes whether my prayer is good enough for God. The reason why I say this is because I sometimes approach God with my demands and not with a clean heart, instead of approaching Him with humility, in need of His help and His grace.We hear, this weekend, of two people who are praying – a Pharisee and a tax collector. Why does God accept the tax collector's prayer and reject the Pharisee's prayer?We see two different attitudes of prayer. The Pharisee, a religious leader, praised himself at the cost of criticizing others. He was prideful and his prayer was centered on himself rather than God's goodness and grace. Instead of practicing humility (humbling himself), the Pharisee praised himself while at the same looking down on others, instead of praising God.The tax collector, who was disrespected by many, humbled himself and begged God for mercy. He practiced humility and had true sorrow for his sins.The parable reminds us to practice real humility, so it can help us see ourselves as we really are in God's eyes and pushes us to seek God for His help and mercy, instead of being prideful.May we always practice humility in all we do and share God's love with everyone we meet!

• Please pray for those in the Armed Forces, especially Cpl. Thomas Cole Walker, a Conneaut, Ohio native killed in a training accident last Sunday morning in Georgia. May he rest in peace.

• Please keep in your prayers Donald Clark who passed away last Wednesday – may his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.

• A reminder that Zoo Day is this Sunday, October 27 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi! It’s a wonderful community event for all ages where animals from the Columbus Zoo come and different community resources are there to help our neighbors! Admission is free!

• The St. Ladislas St. Vincent de Paul Society is having their annual Cookies & Cocoa on October 31st in the parking lot during Trick or Treat times for Columbus – please come!

• The Lay Missionaries are having an All Saints’ Day Party at St. Ladislas on Friday, November 1 – details are in the bulletin.

• November 11 is Veterans' Day, and we will have a special blessing for Veterans at all the Masses during the weekend of November 9-10. We will have a special bulletin board recognizing our Veterans in our parish community – if you have a picture, please send it to the office by November 6.

DEL SACERDOTE:El p. VinceA veces me pregunto si mi oración es lo suficientemente buena para Dios. La razón por la que digo esto es porque a veces me acerco a Dios con mis demandas y no con un corazón limpio, en lugar de acercarme a Él con humildad, necesitando su ayuda y Su gracia.Este fin de semana escuchamos a dos personas que rezan: un fariseo y un recaudador de impuestos. ¿Por qué Dios acepta la oración del recaudador de impuestos y rechaza la oración del fariseo?Vemos dos actitudes diferentes de oración. El fariseo, un líder religioso, se elogió a costa de criticar a los demás. Era orgulloso y su oración se centraba en sí mismo más que en la bondad y gracia de Dios. En lugar de practicar la humildad (humillarse a sí mismo), el fariseo se alabó a sí mismo mientras despreciaba a los demás, en lugar de alabar a Dios.El recaudador de impuestos, a quien muchos no respetaron, se humilló y le suplicó a Dios misericordia. Practicaba la humildad y sentía verdadero dolor por sus pecados.La parábola nos recuerda que debemos practicar la humildad real, por lo que puede ayudarnos a vernos a nosotros mismos como realmente estamos ante los ojos de Dios y nos empuja a buscar a Dios por su ayuda y misericordia, en lugar de ser orgullosos.¡Que siempre practiquemos la humildad en todo lo que hacemos y compartamos el amor de Dios con todos los que conocemos!

REMEMBERING OUR BELOVED DEAD/RECORDANDO A NUESTROS AMADOS MUERTOSA vigil for All Saints will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31 at Corpus Christi. The Feast of All Saints, a Holy Day of Obligation, will be held at the regular Mass time at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, November 1 at St. Ladislas. Saturday, November 2nd we celebrate the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day). The Church takes this day, each year, to remember all those who have died and “gone before us marked with the sign of faith.” A Book of Remembrance is now displayed in the back of both churches. We invite people to write the names of deceased loved ones who have passed in the last year. Please join us at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Saturday, November 2 at Corpus Christi, where every name from both books will be read aloud, during Mass, to honor and remember those we’ve recently lost. Our missionaries, Anna and Jennifer will also be collecting and displaying photographs of our deceased loved ones at each church. Please give any photos (preferably framed) you would like to have displayed to Anna or Jennifer. The office will also be collecting photos until Thursday, October 31. During a period of her life when she was extremely ill and thought to be dying, she received several revelations or “showings.” Over many years following her experience, she wrote

Revelations of Divine Love, a work on the love of God, which revealed her as a woman of great love and compassion. She focused on sin, penance, and other aspects of spiritual life, which made her one of the most important writers in England. Julian spent time listening to the voice of God even though it was different from religious customs and theology of the times. Her prayerful life teaches us that having a healthy and deeply spiritual life depends on staying in communication with God. The feast day for Saint Julian of Norwich is May 13.San Julián de Norwich, contrario a nuestra vida ocupada hoy, vivió durante el siglo XIV, en total soledad de oración en una habitación adjunta a una iglesia. FAMILY FAITH FORMATION/FORMACIÓN DE FE FAMILIAR

On Sunday, November 3, we will begin our Family Faith Formation sessions. Families and parishioners are invited to join our catechists in Huber Hall for a Family Faith activity, following the 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Ladislas. During the session, children will be making materials to take

home for family prayer. A bilingual presentation will be given for everyone who wishes to participate. Supplies for completing the activity as well as refreshments will be provided. Parishioners from Corpus Christi & St. Ladislas are welcome! We will host four Family Faith Formation sessions this school year. We strongly believe that the family that prayers together stays strong in the Lord and in their faith. There will be no regular 9:00 a.m. CGS, Confirmation or Youth Ministry sessions on these Sundays but attendance to Mass and the Family Faith Session is required for all who are preparing for sacraments. The activity will run from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Future session dates are Sunday, December 1, 2019, (Advent Activities), Sunday, January 5, 2020, (Epiphany & 20 Year Anniversary of CGS Celebration) and Sunday, March 1, 2020, (Lenten Activities).El domingo 3 de noviembre, comenzaremos nuestras sesiones de Formación de Fe Familiar. • The Priest Convocation was a wonderful time discussing priests, parishes and schools

• Promise and Parsons continues to grow, practicing our Corporal Works of Mercy for the community
