Message: Dear Chairman Huizar and Honorable Members of the PLUM Committee, I am a Citizen for Los Angeles Wildlife and I support a Wildlife Habitat Linkage Zone ordinance. The Santa Monica Mountains is a special mountain range eco-system that runs through the heart of Los Angeles. LA City's eastern portion of urbanized canyons and hillsides between the 1-405 and 1-5 freeways is a critical Wildlife habitat Linkage Zone that should be established in our municipal code in order to protect the migratory patterns and habitats of our native animals. As part of the ordinance, please make sure every new building project undergoes a checklist and review for wildlife habitat connectivity and permeability. It needs to be passed now.

Planning and Land Use Committee.
Dear Ms. Dickinson:
Wed, Apr 13, 2016 at 6:02 PM
RB: The above public hearing befora the Planning and Land Use Committee (PWM) pursuant to motion made by Council member Paul Koretz on the Wildlife Corridors and Habitat Fragmentation Issue.
SCRA has over 1,000 member households a significant number of which reside in that pert of the Santa Monica Mountains that would be subject to the establishment of wildlife contdors without slgnlftcant loss of use and value to their properties es has been demonstrated In the past by voluntary establishments of such corridors by owners.
The undersigned has served for many years on the Mulholland Scenic Padtway Scenic Advisory Committee and has knowledge of the effect of not allowing wildlife to transit from one habitat area to another habitat. The fragmentation of well-established and known animal pathways inevitably leads to a raduction of a diverse and healthy gene pool leading to an overall raduction in the numbers of many species of wild life and the health of wildlife in these mountains.
Please add to the above cauncil file and place befora 1he PLUM committee members that the Studio City Residents Association (SCRA) supports without reservation the motion as submitted and requests that the motion pass for submission to the full Los Angeles City Council with a recommendation 1hat the proposal contained in said motion be adopted.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
sn-ty,
Ce CM Paul KA~kc~Mn
