Dear Williams Parkway Students, Parents and Families,
At Williams Parkway, we believe in high standards for students, staff and our community. Success at
Williams Parkway means students are engaged and active in the learning process at school, on the
playground, and at home. The middle school years are a time of transition from childhood to adulthood.
Our staff have chosen to work in a middle school because they value the challenges and rewards of
working with adolescent learners. Staff are trained to support and teach middle school students as they go
through what is probably the greatest period of change in their lives. At Williams Pkwy, engaging
students on an academic, emotional and behavioural level has been our legacy. The 2016-2017 mission,
vision and values for Williams Pkwy SPS are:
MISSION:
Williams Parkway SPS will inspire students to have a passion for learning and develop essential learning
and life skills in order to achieve their highest potential.
VISION:
We will help our students reach high levels of achievement. To do this, we will:
Maintain a school climate where staff and students are safe, happy, recognized and fulfilled
Offer all students opportunity to explore and identify their passions and potential
Use technology to enable and enhance learning
Provide equity of access and opportunity for students and staff to learn, work and succeed
Openly communicate through a variety of means to keep parents informed and involved in their
students education
VALUES:
Our values, based on our character attributes, are the foundation of our genuine relationships with
students, parents and each other. Together, we create safe, positive climates for learning and working—
environments that prepare students to be empathetic citizens of the world.
We care by being compassionate and kind towards all members of our community.
We are cooperative—committed to working collaboratively and valuing the contributions of
others for a common purpose.
We value honesty by demonstrating integrity in our words and actions. We are truthful and
trustworthy.
We respect differences, and treat everyone fairly and equitably—we are inclusive.
By treating others, ourselves and our environment with high regard and value, we are respectful.
Being accountable and reliable in our actions and commitments demonstrates we are responsible.
OUR COMMITMENT
Williams Parkway SPS recognizes that students achieve their best when they feel safe, nurtured,
welcomed, engaged, respected and included. We are committed to providing a healthy learning and
working environment to support student success. For learning to be successful, schools must be free of
negative factors such as bullying, discrimination, intimidation, hateful words and actions, as well as
physical violence in any form.
We believe that parents, the school and community must all work together to help students learn to
become responsible members of society being sensitive to the diversity, cultures and special needs of
individual students. We must clearly demonstrate respect for social justice and human rights and promote
the values needed to develop responsible members of a democratic society.
OVERALL SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL STUDENTS
Arrive on time and be prepared with supplies to
learn.
Be polite and respectful to other students and all
adults.
Work hard to be successful.
Respect our environment, our people, our property,

The Code of Conduct for Williams Parkway SPS aligns with and supports Ontario's Equity and Inclusive
Education Strategy, the Peel board's Human Rights policy and Antiracism and Ethnocultural Equity
policy.
OUR CODE OF CONDUCT
The Williams Parkway SPS Code of Conduct applies to all members of the school community including
students, parents and guardians, volunteers, visitors, and school staff whether they are on school property,
on school buses, at school-authorized events or activities, or in any other situation that may impact the
school climate.
All members of the school community have a responsibility to respect and honour the school Code of
Conduct, to behave appropriately and to take responsibility for their own actions.
OUR RESPONSIBILITIES
All members of the school community are expected to:
demonstrate honesty and integrity
treat one another with dignity, respect and fairness, regardless of their race, ancestry, place of
origin, colour, ethnicity, creed, citizenship, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age,
ability, socioeconomic status, or any other attribute

respectfully
show proper care and regard for school property and the property of others
Parent and guardian responsibilities include:

including attending school regularly and on time, promptly reporting absences or late arrivals and
ongoing communication with the school
reviewing the school Code of Conduct with their child and helping him/her follow school rules
helping their child understand that it is not appropriate to tease or bully others
monitoring their child’s internet use and taking responsibility for his/her behaviour when accessing
electronic resources from home

establishing a range of clear, fair and developmentally appropriate interventions, supports, direct
skill instruction and consequences for unacceptable behaviour including but not limited to
homophobia, gender-based violence, sexual harassment and inappropriate sexual behaviour
respond to and report behaviours which may have a negative impact on school climate
BULLYING PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION
We are teaching students to identify bullying behaviour and giving them strategies to deal with, and stop
it from happening.
Bullying is typically a form of repeated, persistent and aggressive behaviour directed at another person
that is intended to cause (or should be known to cause) fear, distress and/or harm to another person’s
body, feelings, self-esteem or reputation. Bullying occurs in a context where there is a real or perceived
power imbalance.
When someone experiences or observes bullying behaviour, he/she is expected to report it to a teacher,
teaching assistant or school administrator immediately. Bullying behaviour will be dealt with using a
progressive discipline approach.
PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE
Williams Parkway SPS encourages, supports and recognizes acceptable behaviour in our students through
a variety of positive practices. Progressive discipline is an approach that makes use of a continuum of
interventions, supports and consequences, building upon strategies that promote positive behaviours.
We encourage students to take responsibility for their behaviour and to accept the consequences of their
actions. A progressive discipline approach will be used to deal with inappropriate behaviour. This may
include: oral reminders, review of expectations, contact with parent(s)/guardian(s), written reflection,
volunteer services in the school community, conflict mediation and resolution, peer mentoring, and/or
referral for support services.
We recognize that each student is a unique individual and that every situation that requires disciplinary
action has its own set of extenuating circumstances. All factors that may have affected the student’s
behaviour will be considered before progressive discipline is applied. Students who behave
inappropriately will receive an age and developmentally appropriate consequence. For a student with
special education or disability-related needs, all progressive discipline approaches will be consistent with
his/her Individual Education Plan and his/her demonstrated abilities.
Williams Pkwy SPS (Tiers of Discipline)
Time Out – This will be at a teacher’s discretion and will be used as a proactive step in preventing further
escalation of behaviours. In this case the students will be sent to the responsibility room for the duration
of the period or until requested to return by their teacher.
Tier 1 – Working in the responsibility room for 2 periods
Tier 2 – Working in the responsibility room for 4 periods
Tier 3 - Working in the responsibility room for 6 periods
If behaviour continues beyond Tier 3, an in-school suspension or formal suspensions will take place. The
stage system will be reset on January 1st.
Suspension and expulsion
Williams Parkway SPS also supports the use of suspension and expulsion for serious incidents as outlined
in the Peel District School Board's Safe Schools Policy.
Before considering whether to impose a suspension or make a recommendation for an expulsion, a
principal must consider mitigating and other factors.
The behaviours for which a principal may consider suspending a student include:
swearing (written or verbal) at a teacher or at another person in a position of authority
bullying
uttering a threat to inflict serious bodily harm on another person
committing an act of vandalism that causes extensive damage to school property
possessing alcohol or restricted drugs
being under the influence of alcohol
committing any act considered by the principal to:
o have a negative impact on the moral tone of the school
o have a negative impact on the physical or mental well-being of one or more school community
members
o be contrary to the school or Peel board Codes of Conduct
Incidents for which a principal will consider recommending to the board's Discipline Committee
that a student be expelled include:
physically assaulting another person causing bodily harm that requires medical treatment
possessing a weapon or using a weapon to cause or to threaten bodily harm to another person
trafficking in restricted drugs or weapons
giving alcohol to a minor
committing robbery
committing sexual assault
behaviour that:
o is significantly detrimental to the school climate and/or to the physical or mental well being of
others
o causes extensive damage to school property
o causes his/her continued presence at the school to pose an unacceptable risk to other members
of the school community
o a pattern of behaviour so inappropriate the student's continued presence is detrimental to the
effective learning or working environment of others
o demonstrates a persistent resistance to changes in behaviour that would enable him/her to be
successful
o is a serious violation of the school or Peel board Codes of Conduct
Students who are suspended or expelled will be given an opportunity to continue their education through
educational programs offered by the school board.
DRUGS
The school recognizes the benefits of a smoke-free environment for all persons. By law, smoking is not
permitted at Williams Parkway SPS, on any other board property, on school buses or while attending any
school-related event or activity. School property includes cars that are on school grounds and all lands to
the edge of the street. The no smoking rule will be enforced within these areas.
Providing tobacco products to anyone under 19 years of age is illegal.
Alcohol and restricted drugs may be addictive and represent a health hazard. Possessing, using, trafficking
in, or providing others with restricted drugs and/or alcohol will not be condoned at Williams Parkway
SPS, on Peel board property or at any school-related event or activity at any time. Lighters and drug-
related paraphernalia that can be used for substance abuse are not permitted on school property.
WEAPONS
Possessing or displaying weapons of any kind, including real, toy or replica, and all other objects that
could inflict or threaten bodily harm will not be condoned at Williams Parkway SPS, on any Peel board
property or at any school-related event or activity at any time.
DRESS CODE
The standards for school dress at Williams Parkway SPS are based on common sense and are intended to
support the comfort, safety and modesty of all students. There is a strong relationship between neat, clean
and appropriate clothing and a positive learning environment.
USE OF TECHNOLOGY
Williams Parkway SPS recognizes the value of using Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) to enhance 21st
Century learning to support curriculum delivery. As such, we embrace the use of PEDs in a respectful
and responsible manner, in keeping with the school’s Code of Conduct and the Peel District School
Board’s “Bring Your Own Device” and Digital Citizenship Policy #78. The Code of Conduct and
academic integrity apply to the use of technology whether students are accessing information from school,
home or from a PED.
Students are able to use Board technology and their PEDs for educational purposes in classrooms,
libraries, cafeterias/lunchrooms and other areas students gather to do their work, as outlined in the
expectations below:
PEDs may be used in the classroom only with permission of a teacher or other staff member.
PEDs may be used outside the classroom as long as these devices do not distract from school
activities or impact safety. Texting in class, speaking on a phone in the hall during class time
without permission or walking down the hall texting are examples of unsafe or distracting
behaviours.
As a result of bandwidth limitations, downloading or streaming of video content for non-
educational purposes is not permitted.
PEDs may only be used to make and/or receive phone calls or texts at lunch in the gym or outside
unless a teacher or staff member provides permission to do so elsewhere.
Students need to be diligent about safely storing their PEDs. Williams Parkway SPS is not
responsible for lost, stolen and/or damaged PEDs. Leaving phones in the gym change room is not
permitted under any circumstances.
Keep personal information private (e.g. age, address, phone numbers, usernames, passwords)
unless approved by a teacher and/or a parent.
Use good judgment in accessing material on the Internet, and report suspicious concerns to a
teacher immediately.
Create, display, use and store messages, images and videos appropriately while demonstrating
respect, e.g. no cyber-bullying or using others’ passwords.
PEDs may not be used for any communication or for taking photographs/video in class unless
permission is granted by a teacher or other staff member.
Posting photographs and/or images of a teacher or another student on the Internet (including social
network sites) without teacher and/or parent permission violates the Code of Conduct.
With respect to Board technology, never download or install any software without the permission
of your teacher.
Do not use Board technology resources to store materials not relevant to educational purposes.
Users should not expect privacy with respect to any of their activities when using the Board’s
technology resources.
We have clear expectations around the appropriate, respectful use of technology. Inappropriate use of
Board technology and/or PEDs may result in discipline or having the use of these services suspended or
removed.
BUS TRAVEL
Students are expected to follow the standards of behaviour outlined in the Code of Conduct while
they are on the school bus.
Students are required to:
be at their bus stop at least five minutes before their pick-up time
go directly to their seats and stay seated
follow the bus driver’s instructions and behave appropriately at all times
Students may not:
consume food and drinks on the bus
fight, swear or cause excessive noise on the bus
engage in activities that may endanger the safety of themselves or others
Negative behavior on the bus will result in a STOPR “Student Behavior Report”, students who
accumulate 2 reports will be temporarily removed from the bus for a period of 3 days or longer. Each
subsequent consequence will result in a longer suspension from bus privileges.
Student Entry/Exit
Students enter the school at 8:25am and must sit quietly in their first period class by the 8:30am
bell. Similarly, students enter for the afternoon at 12:25pm and must be seated quietly in their fifth
period class by the 12:30pm bell. Students are to enter and exit the building at their Grade level-
assigned door.

Attendance
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential if students are to achieve their potential. A parent is to
call the school to notify the office if their child will be absent or late. A note written by a parent is
required if a student is to be excused during the day.
Late Policy
Late arrivals are an ongoing concern at Williams Pkwy SPS, students are expected to be on time for class
and ready to learn. There are two types of late arrivals ‘authorized’ and ‘unauthorized.’ Authorized late
arrivals are approved by the parent by sending a note or making a phone call to the school. Unauthorized
late arrivals do not have parent approval. Student late arrivals are tracked by teachers and the office.
Parents will be informed by our Synervoice message system if their student is late or absent. After 3
unauthorized late arrivals a detention will be given for each unauthorized late arrival. After 10
unauthorized late arrivals a letter will be sent home the student and a loss of a privilege will take place.
This is at the discretion of the Principal. This could include not being allowed to attend student dances,
performances or participate in extra-curricular events. The late policy will be reset on January 1st.
Communication with Parents
Williams Pkwy SPS will not have a school agenda for communication to parents. Instead we have chosen
to use digital means as our main source of communication as a school and between teachers and parents.
Digital communication is more efficient, economical and aligned with the PDSB 21st Century Learning
initiatives.
The school website will be one source of communication for parents and students. The website has a
newsfeed, school calendar and forms area. Users may also subscribe to the site for email alerts from the
school and board. The website will also serve as our newsletter. The website is located at:
http://schools.peelschools.org/1424/Pages/default.aspx
Twitter is another electronic means of communication used by Williams Pkwy SPS. The twitter site will
share information about the school and board, while allowing for feedback https://twitter.com/wp_ibt
Edmodo is a communication tool that will be used by teachers at Williams Pkwy SPS. During the first
week of school, teachers will send an Edmodo student code home so their student can join Edmodo. Once
the student is in Edmodo a parent code will be provided to the student. This will allow the parent to track
student progress. Please be flexible as this process is new to many teachers. The Edmodo site is located
at: https://www.edmodo.com
Locks and Lockers
Generally, two students are assigned to each locker. Dudley brand locks are the only approved lock for
the school and can be purchased at the school at the cost of $6.00 and are ideal for use by students.
Students should not reveal their combination to anyone other than their locker partner. If a student
changes a lock they are to inform their homeroom teacher. Only timetables may be attached to the inside
of the locker doors. During the school day gym bags and backpacks must be left in the locker due to
safety reasons. Lockers are the property of the school and can be opened at anytime by school staff should
there be a safety concern.
Movement in the Halls
It is expected that students will be quiet, orderly and avoid running or shoving while moving through the
halls. Students are to walk on the right hand side of the hall and on the stairs. For safety reasons students
are not to wear earphones/buds in the hall or be on their electronic device.
Hall Movement While Class is in Session
In order to leave class during a period, a student must have teacher permission sign out of the class on the
class clipboard. Once they have signed out they must have a hall pass or contact pass to be in the halls.
Lunch at School
Students are encouraged to eat at school when possible. Parents who wish to have students go home for
lunch are to complete the permission form that will be provided on the first day of school. The lunchtime
procedure will be as follows:
Students who stay for lunch will remain on school property (eating inside in the gym and playing
outside)
Lunch bags will be collected in class bins.
Students are expected to arrive with the appropriate clothing to go outside at lunch.
Lockers are to be visited at the beginning and end of the lunch period ONLY.
All students will go outside after lunch, except in extreme weather conditions. The decision to stay
inside will be made by the Principal, Vice Principal or Teacher in Charge.
When eating, students will remain seated and afterwards will tidy up after themselves.
Respect for, and compliance with, the lunch supervision staff is expected at all times.
Remaining at school for lunch is a privilege that will be withdrawn for students whose behaviour is
unsatisfactory.
Students with permission to go home for lunch will be given a sticker on their student card that
identifies this. Students off of school property without permission will have their parents notified and
may receive consequence should it continue.
It is expected that students granted permission to go home for lunch do just that. It is strongly
encouraged that students do not go to a third location, such as the mall.
Lunch Drop-off
Lunches may be dropped off on the table in front of our main office no later than 11:20 a.m. Please make
sure that your child is aware of this arrangement and that your child's name is clearly written on the lunch.
Food
Students are NOT permitted to chew gum inside the school at any time. Water bottles and snacks are
permitted in classrooms. Snacks can be consumed with teacher permission in the classroom. No food or
drinks may be taken outside. All food garbage is to be disposed of properly before going outside.
Food that adheres to the Ministry Food and Beverage Policy may be purchased at the school from time to
time. Specific food days will be indicated on the school calendar.
Lost and Found
As a precaution, students should put their name on all their possessions. Found materials are placed in a
lost and found box outside the gym. Found valuable items need to be handed in to the office where they
can be reclaimed. The lost and found box is emptied and contents displayed periodically. Unclaimed
items are donated to charity.
Prescription Medication / Life Threatening Illness
The school needs to know if your student has a life threatening illness. Parents or guardians should
contact the school immediately should a new life threatening medical condition emerge. If the school has
a record of this, parents will be contacted during the first week of school requesting a confirmation of the
illness and protocols. Doctor prescribed medication can be given to students by administration when a
request form is completed. Ventolin, other inhalers and Epi Pens that are to be kept at the school for
emergency use are included in this. The forms may be picked up at the school office and will be sent
home each year with the student profile to those students that have a condition noted on file. All
medications are normally kept and administered in the office according to a doctor's prescription.
Accidents and Illness
All accidents are to be reported immediately to a staff member. Students who are injured or feeling ill
may request to go to the office. A telephone call may then be made to the parent/guardian.
Bicycles/Skateboards/In-Line Skates
Bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates, scooters, etc. may not be ridden on school property and must be
locked in the bicycle racks at the front of the school or stored in a locker. The school is not responsible for
damage or theft of these items. Students should not loiter at the bicycle rack area before or after school.
Bikes are not to be brought into the school.
Newsletters and Website
The school website will serve as the newsletter. Should you require a hard copy please let the school
know in advance.
Parent Involvement
We strongly encourage parents to be involved with their child's education. Please call immediately with
any concerns. We see the home and school relationship as the key to student success. We need to work
together to ensure your child's success and request your support in this endeavour. Please feel free to
become a member of our Parent Council or volunteer. More information with regards to the council will
be sent home in September. Should a parent wish to volunteer at the school you will require a criminal
record check as all volunteers do. Please contact the school for more information if you intend on
volunteering.
Supervision of Students
Our yard is supervised in the morning, starting at 8:15 a.m. Students should not come to school earlier
than this, other than for special events or previously arranged extra-curricular activities. Our lunch hour is
fully supervised. Our yard is supervised until 2:45 p.m. Students should have parental permission if they
remain on our property beyond 2:45 p.m. They will not be supervised after this time and therefore it is
our expectation that students will leave Williams Pkwy SPS property at that time.
After School
Please be advised that 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. each day is reserved for remedial assistance and detentions.
Students are expected to be communicating home should they have a detention or are receiving remedial
assistance.
Remedial Assistance - This remedial period is scheduled to help your child achieve at school, through
additional time and support.
Detention - When required students may also be given a detention by a teacher or administration. An
example of this a student accumulating 3 unauthorized late arrivals. Detentions may take place during the
first 15 minutes at lunch or the first 15-30 minutes after school. They will take place in the designated
detention room, Room 100, or in a teacher’s classroom. Students who skip a detention or do not have a
note or parent support for missing a detention will receive a greater set of consequences.
Responsibility for School Property
Students are responsible for replacing any school item they lose and/or damage (team uniforms, library
books, etc.). Williams Pkwy SPS retains the right to charge students for these items or impose other
consequences as might be warranted.
Evening School Events
Williams Pkwy SPS runs a number of evening family-oriented events. These would include concerts,
talent shows, etc. These are meant to be 'family' events and student spectators are welcome only if they
attend with an individual over the age of 18. We do not provide supervision for spectators. If our students
wish to attend one of these events, they must arrive at the school with an individual over the age of 18
who will supervise them. All unsupervised individuals under the age of 18 will be refused entry.
Trespass to Property
The Trespass to Property Act states that: 'a school board has all the rights and duties of the right to deny
access to our property to those individuals who do not respect our staff, students and property’. Entry to
our property is a privilege which and may be revoked. Visitors must report to the office, sign-in and have
a pass.
Access to the School
Williams Pkwy SPS has a controlled entry security system. It means that every door in the school will be
locked for the instructional day. All visitors entering the school must be buzzed into the school by office
staff that will be able to see the visitor on a video camera. The only door that allows this is the main door
at the front of the school.
Use of the Traffic Circle
The “traffic circle” in front of the school is a fire route and a designated bus drop off point for special
education bussing. There is no parking or stopping in this area. Due to a variety of safety issues in the
Williams Pkwy SPS parking lot before and after school, it is requested that parents drop students off at
Terry Miller Recreation Center.
Physical Education
Students must change into appropriate clothing for physical education classes. Running shoes, shorts or
sweatpants and a T-shirts are appropriate clothing. These should be cleaned regularly. Some ill-fitting
clothing, scarves, jewellery, hard-soled shoes and socks without shoes can inhibit movement and possibly
cause injury during active movement and are not appropriate attire for physical education. Students are
not to leave money or valuables, including electronic devices, in the change room.
Homeroom Contact Period
Just before lunch each day, classes will meet and participate in guidance related activities. The
homeroom teacher of each class will become the advocate and counselor to each student in his/her class.
On days when a class does not have a physical education period scheduled, that class will have twenty
minutes of physical activity with the homeroom teacher. This will occur during homeroom contact 11:10
a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For safety reasons, students will need to be wearing appropriate clothes and running
shoes.
House Teams Information
At Williams Parkway SPS we employ a house system to promoted school spirit and friendly competition
within the school. This serves as the mechanism for many key events at the school. In September
students will be informed as to which House Team they are on.
Guidance Counseling
All academic staff at Williams Pkwy SPS are available to provide counseling to students. Your
Homeroom/Classroom Teacher would normally be the first person approached when you need help or
advice. In addition, we have a .3 Guidance Counselor who is responsible for the counseling and referral
of students needing further help or career information.
Library Resource Centre
Using the Library: The Library, Mac Lab and Computer Lab are available to support student learning
and to provide books to read for pleasure. Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the
library layout; additionally, they should know how to search for and check out books independently. The
library catalogue (IPAC) lists all items available; this can be accessed from any computer with internet
access, through the Williams Pkwy SPS website. www.qps.peelschools.org
Circulation: The loan period for most library items is two (2) weeks. Students are asked to return books
promptly so that they can check more out. Once a student has an overdue book, the automated system
will not allow him/her to check out more books. Students are responsible for all items signed out on their
student numbers; replacement fees will be charged for all lost or damaged items.
Mac/Computer Lab: Students are advised to make good use of the Resource Centre to read, research,
complete assignments and do homework. It should be noted that use of the computers is restricted to
school work only. A list of lab rules and procedures is posted in the lab; students in violation of this
policy may have their computer privileges suspended. Students are encouraged to visit the public library
if they wish to use computers for recreational purposes.
Hours: The library is open during most class periods; students must present a hall pass from their teacher
to enter the library. Lunch time library hours are limited due to co-curricular activities and the teachers'
duty schedule.
Student Leadership
This is a group of students who are representative of the school and who have proven leadership skills.
The functions of our Student Leadership team are to act as ambassadors of the school, to plan and
coordinate activities, to develop school spirit and to act as a liaison between students, staff and parents.
The students who are elected and accept the responsibility are showing a commitment and willingness to
attend all meetings, to relay information to their classes and to bring forth ideas from classmates
Emergency Procedures
Fire Drills: Fire Drill practices are mandatory at school and are held in order to allow students to practice
evacuating the school in a safe and orderly fashion. This allows us to react as we would in a real
emergency, and for this reason it is important that students always wear their shoes in school.
When the alarm sounds, wait for instructions from the teacher. Everyone is expected to leave the
building. The class will proceed in single file (along the designated route) with no talking in order that
emergency instructions can be heard.
There is a sign posted in every classroom indicating the emergency exit. The teacher is to ensure that
he/she has the emergency duo-tang (with attendance inside) and the last person closes the door. The first
students to the exit doors should hold them open for others to quickly evacuate.
If the regular route is unsafe, take the shortest, safest route outside. If a student gets separated from the
rest of the class, report to the teacher when outside. At assembly points outside, students are to line up in
a single file without talking, awaiting further instructions and for attendance to be taken.
Should it be necessary to evacuate to a neighbouring site, Judith Nyman S.S./Terry Miller Recreation
Center would be used. Our alternate site is Chinguacousy Secondary School.
Other Emergency Drills: These will be clearly explained to students and practiced.
Lockdown will be conducted if there is a major incident or threat of school
violence within the school or in relation to the school.
Hold & Secure will be used when it is desirable to secure the school due to an
ongoing situation outside and not related to the school. In this situation, the
school continues to function in a near-normal state, with the exception that all
exterior doors and windows are locked and no one enters or exits the building
without approval from police or the board.
Shelter in Place will be conducted for an environmental or weather-related
situation where it is necessary to keep everyone within the school to protect
them from an external situation.
Should an emergency procedure take place, the Peel District School Board will inform parents as
promptly by a variety of means such as Synervoice phone messaging, news releases and the schools
website.
Pediculosis (Head Lice)
From time to time we may discover that a child has pediculosis (head lice). The necessary precautions
will be taken. You will be informed by letter if your child is in a class where pediculosis has been
discovered. The letter will provide you with information related to the identification and treatment of
pediculosis.
Activity Fee
There are many activities that benefit all students that are paid for by our activity fee. This year at
Williams Pkwy SPS we plan to have Arts Performances (Music, Dance, Drama or Character Building) for
all of the students during the school year. Rather than charge on a performance basis, we are collecting
now for all performances through the use of our activity fee. This allows us the funding to book the
performances in advance, pay the deposits required to guarantee a performance and simplify the
administrative procedures. The activity fee this year will be ________ per student.

Educational excursion directly related to in-class programs _______ per year
Grade 8 Graduation Ceremony _______ (May)
