Add new pages to your WordPress site

Access WordPress
Login to your website: http://www.yourwebsite .com/
wp-admin/

Or click “Add New” on
the sidebar.
Click on “Add New” to
create a new page.

When entering web page text into the box, Ensure the “Visual” tab
is selected.
The page title will be displayed in search engines and in your website navigation
menu
Adding Pages to Website Navigation
• Once the page is created, it needs to be added to your website navigation menu.
• This will allow visitors to easily find the page. • Follow the next steps to add the page to the navigation menu.

“Appearance” on the side bar
Step 2: Under Appearance select
“Menus”

Step 1: Your new page will show up in the list
of available pages.
Check the box next to the new page.

Your new page will show up at the bottom of the list. You can click and drag this
menu item…
Repositioning Menu Items
…into any position in the list of menu items. When it is lined up to
the far left side of menu items, it will be
in the main menu navigation.

You can click and drag the new page one indent to the right, and it will now be under the “Rooms”
menu item.

under “Suite”
Editing Menu Item Text
By clicking “Page,” you can edit the page title text in the menu
(“Navigation Label”)
To remove the page from the menu, click
“Remove”
Saving The Page to Menu
Once you have your new page where you
want it to appear in the menu, don’t forget to
click “Save Menu.” You’re done!
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
• Now that your page is created and displayed in the website navigation, you will need to optimize it for search engine discovery.
• The Wordpress SEO plugin by YOAST can be used to optimize your site and submit it to search engines.
• The following slides will describe the SEO process.
SEO Ratings for Pages
Click “Pages”
The “SEO” column has a colored dot rating of your
SEO for each page.
Green dots signify the best SEO, with red signifying a
mediocre SEO rating.
Check and Update SEOPreview of what it will look like
when someone searches for this page on a search engine,
such as in Google
Step 2: Title of the page in the search
engine
Step 1: Focus Keyword is the main
topic of page, usually includes
page title
Step 3: Brief description of the page. Try to use
content from the current page.
More info on Updating Page SEO• The Focus Keyword is how you would describe your page in 1 or 2
words.• The SEO Title is the title the user sees when searching. The title should
contain the Focus Keyword and have a length no longer than 65-70 characters.
• The Meta Description is a brief explanation of what is on the page and should be no longer than 150-155 characters in length. It should also contain the Focus Keyword. Don’t forget to click “Publish” when finished.
Page AnalysisThe “Page Analysis” tab shows you more info
about specific SEO issues with the current page.
