I am doing very well here. I hope the samewith you. How about mom and dad? Missingyou all. I am writing this letter to you to enlight-en you about my hostel life.
When mom and dad decided to put me ina hostel, here in Hyderabad, I thought likethey are not fond of me. But, now I understandtheir intention. Although the facilities in thehostel do not match with our home, the studyatmosphere is quite favourable.
Here, everything goes systematically. Weget up at 5:00 a.m. sharp. We sit for an hourand study the lessons seriously. Then we dophysical exercises and meditation. We breakour fast with fruit salad and light tiffin. Weleave the hostel at 8:00 a.m. for school inschool van.
We come back to hostel at 5:30 p.m. afterlearning the day’s lessons at school. We playfor an hour and fresh up and take dinner. Themenu is fixed for all seven days of the weekand we have a variety of dishes on specialoccasions.
We make group study for one and a halfhour and watch television for 30 minutes in acommon hall for some entertainment. Weshare our personal experiences now andthen. We go on an outing on Sundays and hol-idays. I fall homesick but rarely.No more to Pen for now.

While I am on the road, I am not ableto breathe in reasonable fresh air as manyworn out bikes, autos, cars, trucks, lorriesand even RTC buses are emitting a lot ofsmoke. Sometimes I feel like I am suffocat-ing. Of late, I am suffering from lung dis-ease. It is same for almost all commuters ofmy kind.
The extremity of the condition is that thesmoke from the vehicles clouds the roadfrom view.There happen some fatal inci-dents when the old- aged patients inhalethis smoke. Besides conducting awarenessprograms, stringent action is to be taken inagainst the persons who are using wornout and battered vehicles and save thegeneral public from smoke hazards.

A report is a factual information. Reportmeans carry back. We write reports to givethe information we have, to persons whodon't have. Reports are broadly two types: Business andMedia ones. Here our focus must be onmedia reports: the reports we write for news-papers and magazines.
How to write a Print Media Report?
1. Brainstorm the information (who, what,where, when, why)
2. Crop a catchy heading. (Generally head-ings should not be in complete sentences)
3. Draft an elucidating tag line.4. Write the reporter’s name or designation
followed by place of incident (date isoptional)
5. Begin the report with the most essentialinformation first and disclose the detailsstep by step.
6. Try to write the topical sentence first inevery paragraph.
7. Include the direct speech where neces-sary.
8. Choose apt vocabulary and avoid techni-cal jargon.
9. Give the information directly. Don’t beataround the bush.

December 26: An old man, 83, was hit bya motor bike while the old man was crossingthe road at zebra lines of Himayatnagar sig-nal. The old man was severely wounded onhis head and was rushed to a nearby hospi-tal. Doctors said his condition is critical.
While all the commuters are waiting forthe green signal, the youngster on a racingbike hurried towards the other side. In theover speed he was riding the bike, he wasunable to control it and dashed the old manand the old man fell back on the road andwas injured. Some of the on-lookers tookthe bleeding old man to a hospital in an auto.
Even the biker was severely wounded.He was trying to escape when the trafficpolice caught him.
It was found that he had no drivinglicense when the police man checked thedocuments. He was taken to the policestation and necessary action was initiated.
